If there's a Kushner, there's a controversy! The former head of the financing arm of real estate developer Kushner Companies is suing his former employer and claims money from commission of the purchase of 666 Fifth Avenue (for $1.8 billion) actually went to keep the Observer, owned by Charles Kushner's son Jared, afloat. Swill also claims that other money was put into trusts for Kushner's kids and to pay off family loans--and that some money also went to Mark O'Donnell, aka boyfriend of former Governor Jim McGreevey and a Kushner employee. The Kushners' spokesman denied the accusations, calling Swill a "disgruntled employee." Well, this is interesting, but not as good at when Charles Kushner hired prostitutes to seduce his sister's husband and his accountants so he could blackmail them, but only his brother-in-law took the bait.

Dina Matos McGreevey appeared on Oprah today as part of the publicity tour for her book, Silent Partner: A Memoir of My Marriage, about her marriage to former NJ governor James McGreevey. Of course, the estranged couple have exchanged angry accusations (McGreevey said his estranged wife was using their 5-year-old daughter for publicity while she fired back about portraits of naked men in his home) to the point where a judge had to tell both McGreeveys to put aside their bitter differences for the sake of their child.

That one strikes us as slightly gratuitous in reference. Jim McGreevey responded to the allegations, saying that he had the nude photo, which was art, removed after Dina complained and that he was acting as a good father by allowing his daughter to come to him if she couldn't sleep or got scared in the night, but never let her sleep in his bed.

We can't figure this out! Apparently former NJ Governor James McGreevey wants custody of daughter Jacqueline AND child support from ex-wife Dina Matos. The last time we checked, McGreevey was living in a 17-room mansion with his boyfriend Mark O'Donnell, a financier. And he wrote a book that could pay some of the bills, we think.

Former Goldman Sachs bigwig Jon Corzine was elected the new Governor of NJ last night, beating Republican Doug Forrester. The two millionaires viciously dueled on TV, each creating a more disturbing negative ad after the other, with Forrester reaching the pinnacle by using Corzine's ex-wife's quotes in a NY Times article against him. (At least both candidates were millionaires with millionaire funds to make these ads that basically spell out why people hate politicians.) Corzine won, 53% to Forrester's 44%, and Corzine appeared victoriously to the tunes of Bon Jovi! Gothamist can only hope that somehow Corzine does better than his elected predecessor, Jim McGreevey.
