5 Reasons JFK Was A Creepy, Lecherous Bastard

5 Reasons JFK Was A Creepy, Lecherous Bastard

It goes without saying that John F. Kennedy's missile was never in crisis (ZING). The 35th president has a long and storied list of not-Jackies that he bedded and his quicksilver loins are ensconced in American political lore. But a new autobiography written by JFK's 19-year-old White House intern, Mimi Alford, makes the man look less like a smooth operator and more like a garden-variety pervert. Using an excerpt of the book obtained by the Post, we've determined these moments to be JFK's creepiest. more ›

Ex-Israeli Defense Minister's Daughter Arrested At JFK

Ex-Israeli Defense Minister's Daughter Arrested At JFK

Well this is awkward. Last night police detained Talya Ben-Eliezer, 39-year-old daughter of former Israeli defense minister Binyamin Ben-Eliezer, at JFK on an outstanding "no-bail warrant" out of Florida. The dual American-Israeli citizen was booked as a "fugitive from justice" on a drug charge from the Sunshine State reportedly to do with some oxycontin she bought without the proper prescription. more ›

An airline passenger going through security at JFK airport last night was relieved of $5,000 cash by a quick-fingered TSA officer, authorities say. A TSA spokesperson tells us the employee has been working for the TSA for over four years, and she's been identified as Alexandra Schmid. She was allegedly caught on surveillance camera taking the cash from a passenger's jacket as it moved along the X-Ray conveyor belt at the A checkpoint in Terminal Four. more ›

Le Bernardin's Eric Ripert Gives His Airport Dining Picks

Le Bernardin's Eric Ripert Gives His Airport Dining Picks

Former Playboy enthusiast and Le Bernardin chef Eric Ripert of Top Chef fame gave his favorite airport dining spots to the Wall Street Journal, and shockingly Cinnabon didn't make the list. Correctly noting that "there's always time to eat in airports, because flights are always being delayed," Ripert chooses the pizza joint Crust at LaGuardia for their "thin crust, well seasoned, good-quality ingredients," and Bobby Van's Steakhouse at JFK. If we could eat the sense of helpless rage, we wouldn't need a $40 steak. more ›

Flight Delayed? It's Probably New York City's Fault

Flight Delayed? It's Probably New York City's Fault

The story, which will surprise no one, notes that flight delays are just as bad as they were five years ago, and that airlines pad the statistics to keep things from looking even worse. In 2007, delays that affected 320 million passengers cost the economy a total of $41 billion, roughly the cost of one copy of US Weekly, a pack of gum, and a chicken salad sandwich purchased at La Guardia's food court. more ›

People Are Still Eating Bushmeat, Spreading Disease

Well, it turns out people are still smuggling bushmeat—you know, tropical wild game like MONKEYS and BATS—into the country through JFK, and guess what? It's still dangerous to eat! Because it can spread diseases! And even if they're not deadly right now, they might be soon! Because it's happened before, with bushmeat and AIDS! Everybody freak out! more ›

What To Expect At JFK's Revamped Terminal 4

Construction to revamp the JFK's international terminal, Terminal 4, has been underway since 2010, with the goal to gussy up the outdated structure and add several new gates, among other things. Today, the Times takes a peek at how things are going over there, despite the fact that the project won't be finished until at least 2013. And what they found, is, surprisingly, kind of good? more ›

Some American Airlines Passengers Will Soon Get Expedited Security Screening At JFK

Some American Airlines Passengers Will Soon Get Expedited Security Screening At JFK

Certain travelers with special status will soon be able to take advantage of expedited screening at JFK airport when flying domestically with American Airlines. Officials announced today that JFK is joining the Transportation Security Administration's Pre-Check Program at some point "early this year." Individuals who volunteer information about themselves prior to flying will be eligible to enjoy such civilized amenities as leaving their shoes and belts on (and maybe even get to keep their weed). Here's how the TSA explains the pilot program: more ›

Disgusting Virus Somehow Makes Flying More Grotesque

Disgusting Virus Somehow Makes Flying More Grotesque

Flying sucks. If your crotch isn't felt up by the rubber gloves of Safety and all your coke isn't confiscated, then chances are they'll stick you next to a colic-y set of twins or Alec Baldwin. And that's if the flight isn't delayed or cancelled. Now, the gross noroviruses that have been known to ruin grandma's cruises have been plaguing airlines, including several successive Air New Zealand flights. Symptoms include vomiting, diarrhea, and calling people "Shirley." more ›

Customs Collects $300,000 In Counterfeit Cash At JFK

Some criminals did not get their Christmas present this year. Last week Customs and Border Protection say they found nearly $300,000 in counterfeit $100 dollar bills in the bag of a woman flying into JFK from Medellin, Colombia. Sadly, the stash wasn't found by the TSA—because we'd love to have seen the note they might have left with all that fake moolah. more ›

Third Older Woman Says She Was Stripped By The TSA At JFK

Another day, another older woman comes forward with tales of woe from the TSA! Say hello to Linda Kallish, 66, of Boynton Beach, Florida, who says that she too was forced to take her clothes off by TSA agents at JFK Airport while trying to leave after the Thanksgiving holidays. In fact, she says she was made to strip while trying to board the same flight as 85-year-old alleged TSA-victim Lenore Zimmerman. Kallish is now the third woman to say she was stripped by TSA agents at JFK that weekend. more ›

TSA To Grandma: Get Naked And Show Us Your Colostomy Bag

Seems like somebody at the TSA had some issues to work out with Grandma over Thanksgiving. After this weekend's revelations regarding an 85-year-old woman being strip searched, a second elderly woman has come forward saying that she was stripped by agents at the JetBlue terminal at JFK after the holiday—in this case so that they could examine the 88-year-old's colostomy bag. Which, if you've ever known someone who had one, is an embarrassing thing to have to whip out for strangers. Even in a private room. more ›

[UPDATE] Fire On Airfield At JFK Airport Is Only A Test

Others have taken to Twitter to report the fire, with one saying that it appears to be under control. We're currently awaiting comment from the Port Authority, and will update when more information becomes available. more ›

TSA Agents Get 6 Months For Stealing $40,000 From Checked Bag

The TSA: When they're not hiding creepy notes in your luggage they're just straight-up stealing stuff. Two former TSA workers at JFK Airport pleaded guilty yesterday to grand larceny after they were caught swiping $40,000 from somebody's luggage. Coumar Persad, 44, of Jackson Heights, Queens, and Davon Webb, 31, of the Bronx will each serve six months in jail for their crime, which was perpetrated in January after Persad X-rayed a piece of baggage headed for an American Airlines flight. more ›

Jack The Cat May Have Been Found, But He's Got Liver Disease

Oh, the saga of Jack the Cat just won't stop! Two months after going missing from a baggage center at JFK, Jack was discovered there Tuesday night and quickly whisked away to a vet, but now word is that the poor kitteh is in critical condition having contracted a nasty case of fatty liver disease at the airport. Fatty liver disease is a treatable but potentially fatal illness that sets in when a cat stops eating. At least one vets say Jack's chances are about 50-50 right now. more ›

Mama's Voodoo Magic Can't Save Drug-Trafficking Son From Getting Busted At JFK

Mama's Voodoo Magic Can't Save Drug-Trafficking Son From Getting Busted At JFK

Here's a little tale of motherly love gone awry. When a baggage handler who worked at JFK was busted for running a drug-trafficking ring, his mother flew to Africa to hire a shaman to put a voodoo curse on the prosecutor's handling the case. Kind of sweet, isn't it? But now they're both in some legal hot water that even a mystical hex can't fix. more ›

Two F-16 Flight Jets were called in to shadow the flight—but DON'T WORRY! The pilot is in communication, reporting there is no threat level and the passengers have "returned to their seats." The flight is about to land at JFK momentarily, the situation seems to have been resolved, and several law enforcement officials confirm the incident was not terrorism-related. more ›

American Airlines Begs Other Airlines To Help Find Jack The Cat

American Airlines Begs Other Airlines To Help Find Jack The Cat

A week after American Airlines lost Jack the Cat at JFK airport, the airline still has no promising leads in its search, and there have been no confirmed sightings. Jack's owner, Karen Pascoe, started the Facebook page "Jack The Cat is Lost in AA Baggage at JFK," after American Airlines baggage handlers didn't return her calls for three days. Now the Facebook page has 10,000 likes, and the airline suddenly finds itself grappling with a public relations debacle. So, uh, they're wondering if any other airlines would like to join the fun? more ›

American Airlines Responds To Facebook Pressure To Find Passenger's Cat Lost At JFK

American Airlines is scrambling to show the public that employees are working hard to find a cat they lost at JFK... after the kitty's distraught owner launched a social media campaign. Last Thursday Karen Pascoe and her two cats went to JFK for a flight to San Fransisco, where Pascoe was relocating for a new job. After clearing security, she bid goodbye to her two pets as the American Airlines handler was putting the plastic ties around the kennel door. Rich People So Rich They Forget Briefcases Full Of $10,000 Cash

Rich People So Rich They Forget Briefcases Full Of $10,000 Cash

A ramp worker at JFK airport was arrested yesterday for stealing a suitcase full of $10,000 cash and other expensive goodies after it was accidentally left on the plane. Who would leave a suitcase containing $10,000 on an airplane? The publisher of "the definitive authority on connoisseurship for ultra-affluent consumers," (AKA the Robb Report) William Curtis! This would have never happened had Curtis used the tailor-made leather "lock-brief." Although he would probably need the laser-guided, crocodile skin "Bill Crammer" to fit $10K into that man-purse. more ›

Drunk Teenager Pees On 11-Year-Old Girl On Worst Flight Ever

The JetBlue redeye from Portland to JFK made a strong bid for Worst Flight Ever yesterday, when a drunk 18-year-old boy allegedly peed all over a 11 year-old girl in her seat, which did not go over well with her father. Oh, and then someone puked. more ›

Freed Lockerbie Bomber Who Had "90 Days To Live" In 2009 Spotted On Libyan TV

Freed Lockerbie Bomber Who Had "90 Days To Live" In 2009 Spotted On Libyan TV

Nearly two years after his release on "compassionate grounds" by Scottish authorities, the convicted bomber of Pan Am flight 103 from JFK that killed 270 people, 103 of them Americans, in 1988 was seen on Libyan state television yesterday being introduced at a tribal rally. The announcer in the video declares that Abdelbaset al-Megrahi was arrested because "half the world conspired against" him, and BBC reports that the broadcast yesterday was "live." Megrahi's appearance reflects poorly upon the Scottish authorities, who released Megrahi because Libya threatened to withold contracts to British-based oil giant BP worth "hundreds of millions of dollars." more ›
