This could very well be a long season. We at Gothamist predict an 8-8 finish, but you never know. We thought last years team was going to compete for a playoff spot and they ended up 4-12. So take it for what its worth. A lot of questions still remain and first-year coach Tom Coughlin still has a lot of positions up in the air. Whos the middle linebacker? Whos returning punts? Did they really just sign a kicker on Tuesday? Oy. This doesnt look good.

The Giants have been torched by every first unit theyve played against so far this preseason and last night was no different. Baltimore did as they pleased on both sides of the ball on their way to a 24-3 halftime lead and a 27-17 victory over the Giants last night at a sparsely populated Giants Stadium.

Kurt Warner was sacked four times and threw an interception that was returned for a touchdown. Jesse Palmer came in during garbage time to get a cosmetic touchdown.

Of course the big news was the professional debut of Eli Manning, the highly touted and highly compensated rookie quarterback out of Mississippi. Manning, who entered the game early in the second quarter after Kurt Warner started the game, completed 7 of 13 passes for 91 yards. More importantly, however, Manning led the Giants on three drives that resulted in points on the scoreboard. Late in the first half Manning took the Giants from their own 23-yard line to the Kansas City 24 in 64 seconds to set up a field goal that brought them to within a touchdown.
