Doesn't it seem like you no sooner put down the fork at the Thanksgiving table and the Christmas themed movies have flooded the theaters? If you're ready to start ho ho hoing your way to the cineplex, the new slapstick family comedy , or it could be that Jerry Bruckheimer and Tony Scott have just run out of new movie ideas.

If Cablevision is smart, they will start production on the 2005-06 Knicks movie immediately. This season has all the makings of a Hollywood blockbuster. Anger, betrayal, jealousy, sabotage, do you think Jerry Bruckheimer is interested?

The crew of CSI: New York might be a bunch of novices: The Daily News reported on a CSI: NY PA who "vainly called out, 'Quiet!' as the No. 1 train clattered by on an elevated track." Silly PA - subways are for commuters.

The images of the drill are haunting, especially after the Madrid train bombings. But it's good to know that the city is trying to understand how to better address emergencies. Yes, attacks are unpredictable and may happen anyway, but Gothamist does feel a little reassured, if also alarmed, when the city goes through exercises like that.

Variety also says that the fourth Law & Order is in the works, though there's no formal announcement set for that. How about: Law & Order: CSI Ass kicking? While Gothamist said, "Screw you, Jerry Bruckheimer," earlier, we can't really complain with a show that'll put some money into the city's economy and block traffic with filming. We love getting dirty looks from PAs and Craft service people!

It's Gothamist's second favorite Times Arts & Leisure feature of the year (after the Fall Preview, which, even though "Fall" is less of an event in film and TV, just seems to be an exciting way to ring in the best season), when all the critics give their favorites and hateds of the year. The film critics list their best, with Elvis Mitchell calling Pirates of the Caribbean his top movie (Merry Christmas, Jerry Bruckheimer), A.O. Scott naming Master and Commander his, and Stephen Holden picking Angels in America (technically a film made for cable, but considering its ten month shoot, $60 million price tag, and ultimate 6 hour running time, it's certainly an event, so why quibble?). Then the critics have a discussion about the worst things in movies this past year (roles for women, children's movies); Scott reveals that when critics tell their children some movies are bad, the consequences are dire: [Also Scott on the year in general and Dave Kehr on the Year of the Documetary.]

[Thanks to Frankenstein, Matt and Andrew for thinking of Gothamist when hearing about a possible L&O channel.]

So there is a Thunderbirds movie being filmed. But it's live-action, not marionette-style the way the original Thunderbirds was. Enter our favorite provocateurs, Matt Stone and Trey Parker, creators of South Park. Variety announced that Scott Rudin will be producing the Stone-Parker take on marionette-driven filmmaking with "Team America." Stone says, "I hate all these new Hollywood films that are CGI-driven. Trey and I loved that 'Thunderbirds' series because of the artistry of the marionettes. It's amazing that a studio would make a movie out of it and take out the only thing that was good about the series."
