Yesterday, New York and the world remembered the events of September 11, 2001. There were services and memorials all over New York, and children and relatives of victims read the names of those lost aloud at Ground Zero.
Tomorrow night, might be as much about the complexity of the artistic process as it is a tribute to all those who attempt to realize public art.
Yesterday, high school classmate Donald Dolan performed at Carnegie Hall. It was a great performance, passionate and beautiful. Also thrilling, as I rarely get to see live musical performances in such intimate settings, like the Weill Recital Hall. Don played sonatas by Padre Antonio Soler, symphonic etudes by Robert Schumann, new etudes by William Bolcom, Images from Claude Debussy and "Liebelied" and "Liebesfreud" by Fritz Kreisler. My favorites were the Schumann and Debussy.
