In limbo that is summer television programming (yes, there are new shows, but what are the chances of another The O.C.?), Gothamist is excited about the documentary series, NYPD 24/7, which tracks Manhattan detectives and police officers through murder investigations, undercover stings, and terror scares - the real work that inspires shows like Law & Order and NYPD Blue. The show took 16 months to shoot, and is distilled into 7 episodes, Tuesday at 10PM. Virginia Heffernan's review in the Times today mentions that tonight's episode revolves around an East Village murder and a subway suicide attempt. Gothamist thought we remembered our good friend Jayson Haedrich working on this show from last year (we'd ask for cop stories), and we were right - Jayson shot most of tonight's episode, which features Detective Stephen Di Schiavi, whose profile says, "I may be 40. But I feel 50, 60 years old sometimes."

As with many film projects, the Gubernatorious team is looking for additional funding to complete the film as well as an leads on distribution. You can post something in comments or email Jen if you would like more information.

Yesterday, New York and the world remembered the events of September 11, 2001. There were services and memorials all over New York, and children and relatives of victims read the names of those lost aloud at Ground Zero.

Tomorrow night, might be as much about the complexity of the artistic process as it is a tribute to all those who attempt to realize public art.

Donald DolanYesterday, high school classmate Donald Dolan performed at Carnegie Hall. It was a great performance, passionate and beautiful. Also thrilling, as I rarely get to see live musical performances in such intimate settings, like the Weill Recital Hall. Don played sonatas by Padre Antonio Soler, symphonic etudes by Robert Schumann, new etudes by William Bolcom, Images from Claude Debussy and "Liebelied" and "Liebesfreud" by Fritz Kreisler. My favorites were the Schumann and Debussy.
