Put it this way: Jared Leto should stay focused on his music career. It would be a shame if his acting aspirations distracted him from his totally boss band, 30 Seconds to Mars. Though one can see how he’d have a hard time turning down the role of Mark David Chapman, John Lennon’s murderer. After all, he’s a perfect fit for the role: both Leto and Chapman are unstable, grandiose footnotes whose insecurities drive......

Last year two biopics about John Lennon's assassination made the festival rounds, and are now poised to hit theaters in 2008. One, titled Chapter 27, stars Jared Leto as Mark David Chapman and an actor named Mark Lindsay Chapman portraying John Lennon. While it may be an accurate casting to have Leto playing someone who kills music, his involvement in the film will likely have us choosing the second biopic, The Killing of John Lennon......

We'll be liveblogging the MTVU Woodie Awards tonight (hopefully Jared Leto won't break our blogging fingers) -- if you're looking for something else to do though, here are some suggestions... READING: Spend an evening with Global City Review contributors Linsey Abrams, Fred Tuten, and Michelle Yasmine Valladare. The publication "celebrates the difficulties and possibilities of the 'global city' and other constructions of community...while honoring the subversiveness and originality of ordinary lives," and reflects on New......

300 (directed by Zack Snyder) As digital technologies get more savvy, it seems as though the line between video game and movie gets even more blurry. A prime example is the adaptation of Frank Miller's graphic novel about the Battle of Thermopylae in 480 B.C.E. 300, which is out on DVD this week. Everything about this movie is overblown and over-the-top from the "brave few against the demonic many" plot line to the actors' chiseled......

Of all the actors with bands (Jared Leto, Adrian Grenier, Jason Schwartzman) we had our money on Ed Burns to be in a pretty rockin' one. He recently played The Delancey with his band The Blue Jackets, and you can watch one of their songs from that night right here: Maybe it was just an off night. The band also has a very New York video for "Way Back Home", which can be seen here,......

We're not that in to the whole Fashion Week scene, and it's been pretty easy to ignore its existence in this city. We even missed the whole Fashion Rocks show on tv last week. Last year Arcade Fire and David Bowie performed at it together, this year Jared Leto's band 30 Seconds to Mars did. Not the same. We feel we don't give enough opportunity for you to comment on what happened to the artist......
