Yesterday afternoon, a crowd of people excitedly waited on a line along Elizabeth Street. No, they had not missed the San Gennaro Festival - they were there for fashion. Emmett McCarthy, a season 2 designer from Project Runway, was having an event at his store, EMc2, featuring clothing and appearances from Project Runway designers like Chloe Dao, Kara Janx, Alison Kelly, Nick Verreos, and Emmett himself....plus Tim Gunn!

Project Runway has a couple of its season two dresses for sale on various auctions at the PR website. They are winning dresses from Santino and Chloe, plus that terribly-fitting Daniel Franco muslin dress and Diana's deconstructed prom dress. Naturally, Santino's and Chloe's dresses are in the $300+ range, while Daniel's and Diana's dresses are at about $55. Gothamist really loves Santino's dress (right), and maybe, if we removes some ribs and about a third of our body, we could wear it. Chloe's dress was also lovely, and we sort of loved Diane von Furstenberg as a judge during the second episode, with her slouchy appraisals of everyone, but Nina Garcia and Michael Kors are really making up for a Janice Dickinson-less America's Next Top Model.

Topping Gothamist's short list of things we can't get enough of are a nice cold Hoegarten, sample sales and the priceless humor of Flight of the Conchords. Though billed as a folk-parody duo, their songs have little to do with the typical issues addressed in folk music...unless you count their story of Albi, a racist dragon who cries jellybean tears and teaches us all a real life lesson. The rest of their songs tackle more hard hitting matters like David Bowie's song catalog, Hobbits and giving "something special" to the ladies. So yeah, we are excited that the Conchords are infiltrating the city this week.

There are so many reasons why this season's America's Next Top Model has helped secure its place as one of the greatest shows ever (fainting spells! questionable mental capacity from contestants! Janice Dickinson telling a would-be model that it looks like she has a penis!), but last night's episode, The Girl Who Would Be Contagious, was incredible. The pandemonium caused by admittedly disgusting skin sores was amazing: A bunch of overreactive, stupid girls deciding not to consult a doctor or the Internet - or even someone with the Internet - and instead relying on other people's dumb thoughts to judge people. Gothamist would not put it past the producers for giving Michelle impetigo and then somehow causing the media to have covered lots of flesh-eating baceteria stories so the other wannabes' parents could fan the flames of their insanity. Lesson: If you start a rumor that someone is afflicted with a flesh-eating bacteria, you deserve to be booted off a UPN reality show that claims to but doesn't really produce America's Next Top Model; you'll also be booted off if you're not model-y. Good riddance.
