A 37-year-old man ended his train trip atop a Metro-North car at the Pelham station, where he fell or was pulled from the train's roof, while on fire and suffering from burns after coming into contact with a high voltage power cable. Accounts of the incident differ, but do agree on the fact that the adventurer was named Eric Chavez, he suffered burns on his body, and that it was somewhat of a miracle that he was alive.

Shocked family and friends are mourning the deaths of four people who died in a car accident on East Tremont Avenue near Commonwealth early yesterday morning. The police believe that the GMC Envoy was traveling at least 80 MPH (and witnesses think it was closer to 90-95 MPH) when it hit a utility pole and flipped over twice. The NY Times reports the car "hit the pole with such force that its roof was shorn off, three of the four people inside were ejected and the driver was decapitated." It's unclear whether there was alcohol involved.

A terrible accident in the Bronx: Police believe that an SUV on East Tremont was speeding around 4AM when it crashed into a telephone pole and flipped over. 1010WINS says the vehicle was "ripped apart" at Commonwealth Avenue. Three men were ejected from the SUV and pronounced dead at the scene. A fourth passenger, a woman, died at Jacobi Hospital.

The tragic death of two year old Anthony Pena, who suffocated in a plastic storage container in his Bronx home, was ruled an accident by the ME's office.

Yesterday, a Bronx woman told police that her baby had been abducted at gunpoint while at Jacobi Hospital, where the baby had a checkup. But now the police say there was never an abduction. It turns out the woman had been changing her story to the police "every half hour," according to a Daily News source.

Showing off a .357 caliber gun turned deadly when a shot Fidel Gonzalez meant to go out the window actually hit his brother in the head. Twenty-eight year old Jorge Gonzalez died from being shot in the head, and the police believe that brothers had been drinking during the evening. Apparently the brothers, including a third brother, had been hosting a holiday party and had been drinking tequila. Around 3:45AM, Fidel Gonzalez fired a gun to celebrate, and the shot hit his brother, who died at Jacobi Hospital.

Five year old Sarah Felix was killed during a fire in her family's Bronx apartment, and her father Diogenes Felix was burned when making repeated visits back into the apartment to find her. Six year old sister Angela, who suffered burns on 60-70% of her body, was saved by 12 year old brother Diogenes Felix Jr. Felix Jr. was reportedly the one who noticed the fire first, when he got up to go to the bathroom. Father and daughter are in critical condition at Jacobi Hospital; the mother and son were treated for minor injuries.

The killing of police officer Daniel Enchautegui (left)continues to be investigated, as the two suspects, Daniel Armento and Lillo Brancato, were charged with second degree murder. Police now believe that Armento, 48 years old, and Brancato, 29 years old, were searching for Valium when they broke into a Bronx home. Enchautegui, who was off-duty and at home next door, had heard the break-in. Police believe that Echautegui identified himself as a police officer, but was still shot by Armento; though wounded, Echautegui managed to shoot both men. Armento and Brancato had started the night at a Bronx strip club, Crazy Horse, but went on the prowl for drugs. They broke into a house where they had previously purchased Valium; the Post reports that Armento was too fat to squeeze through a window, so Brancato had to go in. What they didn't know was that the owner had died and the house was empty. The two men are recovering at Jacobi Hospital, with the police and DA's office waiting to take them into custody.
