Like the Blues Brothers, God's Pottery are on a mission from God. But instead of driving through malls or shooting up dope, they're changing the world one youth at a time through inspirational song. All the prayer and hard work have paid off for band members Jeremiah Smallchild and Gideon Lamb because May 21st they'll be recording an EP at Comix for Comedy Central Records. Gothamist sat down with these holy crusaders to do a little Q and A about G-O-D.
God's Pottery, Christian Folk Duo
Holly Schlesinger, Invite Them Up Booker and Television Producer
Holly Schlesinger is the booking power behind Invite Them Up, the East Village's most popular weekly comedy show, but she's also got a flourishing career in the field of television. She's worked on Dr. Katz: Professional Therapist, Home Movies, is the creator of O'Grady, and is currently working on Adult Swim's Lucy, Daughter of The Devil. And it all started with a college internship.
Jon Glaser, Writer and Performer
You may recognize Jon Glaser from his appearances on Conan, Wonder Showzen, or Cheap Seats. You may have even heard his track on the Invite Them Up CD compilation, where he reads a series of letters written by his recently deceased father to the band ZZ Top. By the track's end, one thing is certain: Jon Glaser is a comedic genius.
Mike Birbiglia, Comedian
It was good. I did Oh, Hello, Invite Them Up, and last night I did a show that Eugene did for the first time in Brooklyn at a place called Union Hall. It was Todd Barry, A.D. Miles, Eugene, and myself. It was great. A really cool local Parkslope sort of crowd.
Tom McCaffrey, Comedian
I'll do a joke for a week and then I'm sick of it. Every now and then I'll think of something that might turn into a joke and I'll mess with it. I think it's boring to do the same stuff over and over again. I'll only do that if it's a showcase set. I think it's better for the crowd too because I'm more into the jokes. If I'm excited about it hopefully they will be too.
Invite Them Up & Movable Hype Comedy
