Inside The Heat, Will Smith's Banished Mobile McMansion

Inside The Heat, Will Smith's Banished Mobile McMansion

The party's over! Will Smith's mobile mansion (called The Heat) has been taken off the streets, and is now sitting empty in a parking lot half a mile from where Men In Black III is shooting on Broome Street. His personal gym, housed in a separate 55-foot trailer, is parked right next to it. For now, Smith has been forced into a 35-foot trailer (that's a whole 18 feet smaller than The Heat), which reportedly has features any ol' commoner could get. In fact, The NY Post calls it "a bland, generic movie trailer," and a source on set told them, "Will has to live like normal people—at least for today. It's like going from a BMW to a Toyota." It's unclear why Smith can't just walk over to his mega-trailer, or his $25,000-a-month Bond Street apartment, which are both nearby. more ›

Quay Brothers Creepy Film Decors on Display at Parsons

Fans of the Quay Brothers will be pleased to know that Parsons The New School for Design is currently hosting a traveling exhibit of 11 rarely seen miniature décors from some of the Quays' most prominent works. Since 1979, the famously reclusive brothers (born and raised in Norristown, Pennsylvania) have produced over 30 enthralling animated works, including the critically acclaimed Street of Crocodiles, an adaptation of the Bruno Schulz novel by the same name, which Terry Gilliam deems one of the top ten best animated films of all time. more ›

Washington Square Arch Interior Revealed

Washington Square Arch Interior Revealed

Did you know you could go inside of the Washington Square Arch? Well, at least those with the secret password can get inside. Curbed just infiltrated the marble structure and took some covert photos that are worth checking out. A little history: designed by New York architect Stanford White (and modeled after the Arc de Triomphe in Paris) the arch was erected in 1892. In 2003, the Villager took at look at the repair work the arch was undergoing, noting that when it began on April 30th "the department opened the spiral stairway within the west leg of the arch that leads to the roof, giving visitors a rare view of the interior brickwork." On that very same roof in 1914 Marcel Duchamp and other artists "lit a bonfire and read a resolution proclaiming the Republic of Greenwich Village, which they toasted with Champagne." Sounds like something Reverend Billy & Co. should reenact! more ›

Jet Blue Terminal 5 Looking Good Enough to Eat!

Jet Blue Terminal 5 Looking Good Enough to Eat!

As if you needed any more reasons to choose Jet Blue over other airlines, Grub Street got their hands on renderings for the dining and drinking areas of the airline's renovated Terminal 5 at JFK airport, scheduled to reopen October 1st. While it does give one pause that the design is being done by ICRAVE, the same firm that unleashed Crobar upon our fair city, their vision is certainly a cut above most airport dead zones. Seen here is the rendering of the Deep Blue bar and Asian fusion joint, which doesn't seem like such a bad place to sit out an interminable flight delay. more ›
