It's gingerbread season, and those who went to both architecture and pastry school really have the upper hand. One such person recently recreated a Brooklyn brownstone out of edibles, and is providing pages upon pages of instructions in case you want to make one yourself and last week's episode of Parks & Recreation didn't give you enough to go on.

Buy a Hyundai, Get an iPad
Hyundai announced at the New York Auto Show that they will be offering a nice bonus to anyone who buys their Equus this September; all models will come with an iPad instead of a boring old paper owner's manual. North American chief executive John Krafcik told the Times, “Who reads a 300-page manual anyway? Instead, they’ll have a gorgeous color touchscreen loaded with the manual electronically, as well as photos of the whole Hyundai lineup.” Owners will be able to use the iPad to find the trunk-release switch, schedule maintenance appointments and locate the fuse box. The Equus is priced around $50,000; the iPad currently runs for $499, and blends way too easily.
Recipe of the Week: Sour Cherry Coffee Cake
Sour cherry trees in Brooklyn (and yes, there are a few) are just at their peak, and the greenmarkets are flooding with cherries now as well. Sweet bing cherries are better for eating fresh and plain, but sour cherries (also known as pie cherries) are more flavorful and better for baking.
