While we got a dusting of snow last night (with more flurries possible tonight), Union Square got more than a few feet, courtesy of I Love NY. The faux snow is there for anyone to enjoy until 2 p.m. today (the little ones can even get snowboarding lessons), and we swung by last night as they were bringing the white stuff in. However, the only snow we spotted was this sad little pile. We contacted the organizers of the event to find out if any more was produced—if you drop by, send us your photos! And after 2 p.m., we're guessing this stuff is up for grabs, so start planning your afternoon snowball fight now.

Snow Is Coming To Manhattan This Thursday
When Mother Nature doesn't deliver, New York will bring in winter on its own. This Thursday the I Love NY crew is bringing snow to Union Square, even though it will be a balmy 45 degrees. How much snow? "Tons," we're told. They say, "Residents of New York are invited to enjoy a winter wonderland," while they learn where to find the real white stuff elsewhere in the state.
Million-dollar "I♥NY" Industry Extends To Bottled Water
Milton Glaser and Bobby Zarem's famous "I♥NY" logo isn't just a graphic design icon, it is a New York State cash cow, too. The logo, which was originally meant for a brief 1977 campaign and is now going strong in its fourth decade, made the state $1.83 million in fees in fiscal year 2011—up from $1.5 million in fiscal year 2010. And the Empire State Development Corp. has big, Spaceballs-style plans for the logo. Coming soon? I♥NY, the spring water.
Milton Glaser's Original Sketch For I ♥ NY
Have you ever seen the original sketches for the now universally known I ♥ NY logo? MuseumNerd reminds us that the 1976 Milton Glaser original is on view at MoMA's design galleries... which is a long way away from where it began: he sketched it quickly on a piece of envelope in the back of a cab.

Banksy has been traveling across the country for the last couple of weeks, doing pieces and promoting his movie "Exit Through The Giftshop". After he hit Toronto and Boston, streetart enthusiasts were betting he'd show up in NYC. Ad Agency's Epic Fail at "Revitalizing" I ♥ NY Logo
Last year it was announced that the New York State Division of Tourism was looking to spend a pretty penny on their campaign which included a revitalization of the classic 31-year-old "I ♥ New York" logo. Enter Saatchi & Saatchi, the ad agency that received part of the $17 million bucks to get the job done. And what did they do? They added a squirrel, a butterfly and some snow. How inspired! The Tribble Agency says the city should invest in a high school kid with access to Microsoft Paint next time.
Some Love (Or Dollars) Lost Over Gucci's ♥ of New York
Gucci has been touting its love (or ♥) of New York with a new "Gucci ♥ NY" line of luxury products and 46,000 flagship store on Fifth Avenue, but its legal department never cleared the usage of the trademarked "I ♥ NY" logo. According to the Post, the Empire State Development agency was never contacted for permission.

So at Monday night’s The Art of the Book: Covers With Dave Eggers, Chip Kidd and Milton Glaser, moderated by designer Michael Bierut at the 92nd Street Y, we weren’t surprised that book jacket designer and author Kidd made nice with Panelist Four – a man well into his senior years who boosted the show from the first row.
