Mayor Bloomberg and the New York City Office of Emergency Management have announced 10 winners in the contest to design temporary housing for the thousands of New Yorkers who might be displaced in the event of a catastrophe, like a direct hit from a Category 3 hurricane. The 117 submissions from 30 countries had to create quickly assembled housing for 38,000 families from Prospect Shore, a fictional neighborhood set along a mile of the New York City coastline.

Last Night's Action: New Jersey Reigns Supreme
While the calendar says February, the intensity reflected April or May as both teams battled until the end. New Jersey took the lead off of a goal by Brian Raflaski, but Petr Prucha tied things up late in the second period and after a fight, the teams came out scrapping in the third period.
Big Game In Big D
The Giants head into Dallas tonight for what should be a great football game. Both teams are only 3-2, but with Philadelphia and Washington stumbling these two teams are the best of the NFC East. If New York can win, they will improve their division record to 3-0, which could be important in tiebreakers down the road.
Another Bad Loss
The Rangers are slumping at just the wrong time. Facing one of the worst teams in the league, New York gave up 35 shots while only managing 24 of their own and lost 5-3 to Pittsburgh. The loss coupled with a Devils win over Philadelphia leaves the Rangers with a 3 point lead in the division over both teams.
Not In My Borough!
Embattled Brooklyn apartment dwellers have taken their fight against the proposed site of the new arena for the "Brooklyn Nets" all the way to Athens. A group called Develop Don't Destroy Brooklyn unveiled a banner on one of the endangered apartments which reads "Dr. Rogge and the International Olympic Committee, Please Don't Destroy Our Homes." If New York City is awarded the Olympic Games in 2012, the proposed basketball arena would be used to house the gymnastics competition. Local residents hope that by appealing to the International Olympic Committee, a new space for the arena can be found where the current populace won’t be forced to give up their apartments via eminent domain.
