Storms And Tornado Watch This Afternoon, Cool And Dry Tomorrow

June's off to a steamy, and possibly stormy, start but a long stretch of mild weather should soon follow. A cold front is dividing the state in two today. Everyone east of, say, Syracuse or Binghamton is basking in a soupy, tropical, air mass. We're looking at a high close to 90 in the city this afternoon. Tonight's Jets-Giants game at the new Meadowlands stadium could be a soggy affair. more ›

To our semi-trained eye it looked like at least double that amount fell on 116th Street in Harlem. more ›

Hurricanes And Heat

A is for Ana, heading for the DR. B is for Bill, staying out to sea. C is for Claudette, making the south wet. After a slow start the Atlantic hurricane season hopped to life over the weekend with three named storms. The strongest, Hurricane Bill, looks like it will stay out to sea. The lady storms would have the potential to drop some rain our way were it not for the appearance of another stranger this summer. more ›
