This weekend, House Speaker John Boehner walked away from a grand bargain that would lower the deficit by $4 trillion, raise the debt ceiling, and bolster the economy, because his party can't stand to make rich people pay taxes. So Boehner flipped his lid in a closed-door meeting with House Republicans today, telling them how "pissed" he was was the president. According to Politico, Boehner said Obama "talks a good game, but when it comes time to actually putting these issues on the table, making decisions, he can't quite pull the trigger." Aww, sounds like someone could use a cigarette and a good cry. May we suggest Nights In Rodanthe and a pack of Misty Ultra Light 100s?

GOP: Trying Somali Terrorist On US Soil (And In NYC) Is "Harming" Our National Security
A Somali man was flown to New York City late Monday night to be tried in the Southern District of New York for providing information to the Somali terrorist group Shabab as well as Al Qaeda. Now, Congressional Republicans are offering harsh criticism of the Obama administration for not transferring him to Guantanamo Bay. "The administration has purposefully imported a terrorist into the US and is providing him all the rights of US citizens in court," vulgar obstructionist and Yertle the Turtle lookalike Mitch McConnell said on the House floor today. "This ideological rigidity being displayed by the administration is harming the national security of the United States of America."
House Shelves GOP's Attempt to Censure Rangel Over Rent-Stabilized Apartments
The House of Representatives tabled a resolution to censure Representative Charles Rangel over his four rent-stabilized apartments in Harlem. Put forward by Republican minority leader Representative John A. Boehner (just after Republican Senator Ted Stevens pleaded not guilty to taking $250,000 in gifts), the House voted 254-138 to table the resolution, which said Rangel was a "discredit to the Congress." Rangel, who had asked the House Ethics Committee to investigate his living/renting situation, said it was all politics, "I'm just surprised they feel it's so important that they bring down an officer of the Congress in order to get some attention toward the election. It's really sad that they would feel that insecure.
