It looks like Roger Clemens didn’t convince any Democrats with his testimony in front of Congress February 13th. According to anonymous sources, a letter to the Justice Department has been drafted asking the it to investigate whether Clemens, and not McNamee, committed perjury during hearings in front of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. Keith Ausbrook, Republican chief counsel for the committee, told reporters that he was unaware of the letter, indicating that......

One of the key factors in Roger Clemens condemnation of the Mitchell Report and the testimony of his former trainer Brian McNamee is the pitcher's assertion that he never attended a birthday at Jose Canseco's Florida home ten years ago. A photo may exist, however, that shows Clemens at that very party posing with an 11-year-old fan. The birthday party incident was asserted as evidence that the Mitchell Report's composition was sloppy and inaccurate and......

Photo of Andy Pettitte talking to the media by AP/Julie Jacobson With some of his current Yankees teammates on hand, Andy Pettitte addressed the media in Florida this afternoon. Pettitte, who previously admitted using Human Growth Hormone in 2002 and again in 2004, apologized to the Yankees, Astros, and his fans for the "embarrassment" he caused. Pettitte said, "I want to apologize to the New York Yankees and Houston Astros organizations, their fans, my......

Photo of (left to right) Rusty Hardin, Roger Clemens, Lanny Breuer by AP/Pablo Martinez Monsivais And now Roger Clemens’ fate hangs in the balance. Not just his baseball fate, but also his entire future. Because there is only one thing we can definitively conclude from yesterday’s hearing in front of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform - somebody lied. Brian McNamee and Roger Clemens told two completely different versions of the same......

Photo (left to right) of Brian McNamee, Charles Scheeler, Roger Clemens by AP/Pablo Martinez Monsivais After a morning of denials and denouncements at a hearing in front of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform one thing is clear, Brian McNamee and Roger Clemens deserve each other. As Chairman, Henry Waxman, made clear at the start of the proceedings this morning one of them is lying and based on the testimony so far......

Roger Clemens went to Congress and spoke with congressional lawyers for five hours on Tuesday. While the meeting was private, Clemens did speak to reporters afterwards and reiterated his innocence saying, "It was great to be able to tell them what I've been saying all along -- that I've never used steroids or growth hormone." One of Clemens’ lawyers, Lanny Breuer added that Clemens "answered every question that was posed to him today.” So, Clemens......

Mayor Bloomberg called the Department of Homeland Security "short-sighted" and "dysfunctional" while testifying to the House Committee on Homeland Security yesterday about the Department of Homeland Security anti-terror funding cuts to NYC. Bloomberg, joined by Police Commissioner Kelly, emphasized the importance of "human intelligence" in stopping potential terrorist attacks. He even had to say, "The world is not what you see on 'CSI.' The real ways that you stop the bad guys is by having......

An interesting juxtaposition of convention news today: The Times reports that Wall Street firms are going to be wining and dining Republican politicians and delegates in town for the Republican National Convention (august 30-September 2), while Newsday says end of August street fairs will be banned because police need to concentrate their efforts on convention security. There had been 14 street fairs scheduled during the time of the convention, but they have now been reschedule.......
