Five different car crashes in Brooklyn, Manhattan and Queens have left five people dead yesterday.

A 66-year-old man driving a Nissan Maxima was fatally hit by a drunk driver on Woodhaven Boulevard, between 101st Avenue and 97th Avenue in Ozone Park. Twenty-five-year-old Christopher Rivera, driving a Honda Accord, crossed the road's median around 10:45PM and slammed into the Maxima driving in the opposite direction. The Maxima then hit a third car, a BMW. The Maxima's driver was pronounced dead at the scene, his passenger was injured, as well as Rivera...

Some more sad details about the Tuesday car crash in Virginia that claimed the lives of six people, five of them believed to be siblings in a Bronx family of Trinidadian immigrants. The fire destroyed the Honda Accord so badly that mother Pamela Ramharrack of the Bronx was asked to go to Virginia to identify the bodies, but she was only able to identify her 13-year-old son Anderson. She must gather more dental records to identify her other children, Putrina, 24; Anthony, 21; Emmanuel, 16; and Jessica, 11; their surviving sister, Salena, provided DNA samples. It's believed the sixth passenger was a family friend.

A Honda Accord carrying six members of a Trinidadian family died after their car crashed on U.S. 58 in Virginia Tuesday afternoon. Police say the Accord's driver had lost control, overcorrected, and crossed the median before hitting an oncoming industrial drill rig.

A 17-year-old girl was killed after a drag racing incident on Staten Island last night. According to the Advance, a 2003 Honda Accord and 1994 Ford Mustang crashed into each other on Veterans Road West near a Charleston shopping mall. Six other teens were injured.

We had kicked back to watch TV the other evening - live, not TiVo'd - when we started to see an "I ♥ NY" logo on screen. Awesome, we though, as the logo got bigger. But then the NY was replaced by...a freaking Honda Accord! Honda paid NY State $45,000 to use the logo in their ad which is appearing in the NY-area, and to us, that's getting peanuts. No wonder NY State has so much debt and such a terrible credit rating! Bobby Zarem who promoted the slogan, created to kick NY State out of its 1970s slump, is disgusted by the ad while Milton Glaser, who created the logo, is flattered. Feh, we rather car companies co-opt our neighborhood names, not claim that we love them.
