Last week we trudged up the stairs of the Broadway-Lafayette F station and out into the elements to make a transfer to the uptown 6. In addition to being within 200 yards of a Hollister, we were being charged $2.25 for the indignity. As we cursed our cruel fate, we wondered two things: when the hell is the MTA going to finish the new station and why can't the transfer be gratis like it is from Lexington Ave-59th St to Lexington Ave-63rd St?
Why Isn't The Uptown B/D/F/M & 4/5/6 Transfer At Broadway-Lafayette Free?
Black Friday Redux: Fights, Looting, And The Danger Of "Hot Shirtless Guys"
NYC was thankfully spared the worst of Black Friday—after all, nobody got pepper sprayed or shot here. But that doesn't mean it was a walk in the park: tens of thousands of NYers across the state lugged their tryptophan-enriched bodies to stores to suss out deals. And along with them came long lines, fights, and looting. And this is exactly why one can't just go around promising "hot shirtless guys" all willy nilly.
Summer Is Official: Hollister Dudes Finally Shirtless!
Well, that's a relief. The Shophound reports that the beefcakey greeters outside of the (presumably now bedbug-free) SoHo Hollister are once again welcoming shoppers with their naked chests. A truer mark of summer is nowhere to be found.
Hollister Reopened After Bed Bug Infestation
Good news, guys. Epic Hollister, shut down after bed bugs feasted on employees, has reportedly reopened! Abercrombie & Fitch said yesterday that their SoHo Hollister store would reopen at 10 a.m. today, and we imagine the lines are around the block for a retailer whose sister store is still closed for a "similar problem."
Bedbug Infestation Shuts Down Abercrombie & Fitch!
It looks like these sinister bedbugs won't rest until every tween in America is deprived of access to tarted-up, pseudo-Californian ensembles. After bedbugs forced the closure of the Hollister flagship store in SoHo on Wednesday, the pestilence has spread to the South Street Seaport, where Abercrombie & Fitch, which owns Hollister, has been forced to close its doors. Where will teenage tourists from the suburbs shop to look like teenagers from the suburbs now?!
Bedbugs Shut Down Hollister Store in SoHo
Hollister, the teen-oriented clothing store that's a subsidiary of Abercrombie & Fitch, was shut down yesterday due to what one employee described as "a massive bedbug outbreak" at the four-story SoHo flagship location. And according to our source, who spoke on condition of anonymity so that he/she wouldn't lose his/her job at the creepy "bedbug breeding ground," the senior management blew off complaints about bedbugs for almost a month. In a long, outraged email, the employee described the nightmarish situation:
R.I.P., DKNY Mural
A piece of Soho advertising that had become a familiar and even beloved sight is gone from its Houston at Broadway spot: Bowery Boogie reports, "As of this morning, the DKNY mural at the corner of Houston and Broadway is gone. Painted a shade of brown. Although, the former lettering is still somewhat visible."
