During the holidays, we are all bombarded with requests for charitable giving. Sure, it's a great way to do something good and squeeze in one more tax deduction before year's end, but given the number of requests, making a choice about how to spend your charity dollars can be somewhat daunting. The Times focused this week on the dizzying number of food-related charities making year-end requests.

The Thanksgiving Day Parade has made it way down, with better weather (less windy, barely wet) than expected. For those of you who stayed out in the 40 degree weather, we that hope you warm up soon - and that you brought your camera so we can see pictures of the celebrating on Flickr. And tell us if you had a good time. Now, it's on to the eating!

Admittedly, Gothamist has Easter bunnies on the brain. But when we glanced at the Special Op-Ed Report on the NY Times homepage, we couldn't help but wonder if an Easter story would accompany the caption "An International Basket Case." Alas, it's a story about the troubles in Zimbabwe (the interactive report starts "Africa is a mess...") and where Christianity is on the rise.
