A new study came out this week declaring that those with broken hearts are more likely to have a heart attack. The study is very sad! And it broke our heart a little bit, and now we are going to sue science when we have our heart attack over it all. However, if you really must know about it, the study (which was originally spotted by ABC News) says that "grief over the death of a loved one can cause a huge spike in a person's risk of heart attack," especially right after the loss.

Now, if we can only figure out a way to snort the sandwich into our bodies, we'd truly be set.
Study: Diet Soda Drinkers Have Much Higher Stroke Risk
Some time ago, a friend overheard this snippet of conversation between two mothers on the J train. One was giving her child a taste of her Coca-Cola, and received a prompt scolding from the other mother, who warned, "You give your baby Coke? You should at least give him Diet!" But that sage health advice may be bound for the Old Wives' Tale bin, because a federally-funded study of NYC soda drinkers suggests a link between diet soda consumption and an increased risk of strokes and heart attacks!

The 5' 11", 350-pound man was "sweating profusely and breathing heavily" about 20 minutes after takeoff when he called a flight attendant over for help. The attendant was soon not able to detect Kitsos' pulse, and a doctor on board pronounced him dead. The flight was forced to return to JFK Airport, and it apparently took four cops to lift Kitsos from his seat.
After Heart Attack, Texas Man Finishes His NYC "Marathon"
During last year's NYC Marathon, Michael Goulding, 51, had a heart attack near Mile 19 in Harlem. Firefighters, who happened to be near by and were not assigned to cover the marathon, were able to resuscitate him. Though he trained appropriately, his mother spoke to the Times, "I told him that he was too old to run a marathon." Now, six months later, Goulding came back to run the final seven miles on Thursday and thank his rescuers. Since his heart attack, he ran a half marathon without any issue; he said to the Post, "It felt good [to run the final seven miles]. It shows how close the line is between life and death. I’m just very humbled."

Man Brought Back To Life After 47 Minutes With No Pulse
Brooklyn's Joe Tiralosi doesn't remember much about that day in August when he went to New York Presbyterian Hospital feeling sick and disoriented, then collapsed. But last week the 56-year-old father of two visited the hospital to thank doctors for not giving up on him just because his heart stopped beating for 47 minutes after a sudden cardiac arrest. All told, it took 4,500 chest compressions and eight shocks from a defibrillator to bring him back from the brink. Doctors are calling it a medical miracle, but Tiralosi's also lucky the E.R. he visited happened to have some special equipment.

A school bus ride for the nine young summer campers at the Magic Carpet Day Camp turned tragic when their driver dropped dead of a heart attack and collapsed out of the bus while driving yesterday in Queens. Ramon Fernandez, 47, died after losing consciousness while stopped at a red light behind the wheel of a camp school bus in Elmhurst. Fernandez then collapsed out of the door he was keeping open while stopped in order to get additional ventilation into the un-air conditioned bus. When Fernandez fell out, 16-year-old camp counselor Rachel Guzy leaped forward and reached for the emergency brake as the bus slowly rolled into another vehicle in the intersection. The bus matron had minor injuries, but all of the Bayside campers were unharmed. An 11-year-old on board told the Post, "He was driving with the door open because it was really hot, and he felt really hot. It's not normal...Me and my friend, we were in the front near the counselor. She was crying, very nervous after it happened....[Rachel] saved our lives because she pulled the brake."

Hirsch said that Zadroga's death wasn't related to Ground Zero dust, but ground-up pills the detective was allegedly injecting....
