NYPD Chief Ray Kelly Gets Free Food, Dues at Harvard Club

NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly has been dining at the Harvard Club on someone else's dime, in violation of the department's strict rules about accepting gifts. NYPD Confidential reports that the nonprofit New York City Police Foundation has been paying Kelly's dues and picking up his tab for years. Harvard Club Rejects Eliot Spitzer's Membership Application

The NY Times has broken this very important story about our former hooker-loving governor: Eliot Spitzer's application to join the Harvard Club of New York City was rejected: "This year, the Midtown club turned down Mr. Spitzer’s application for membership — a rare snub by the club — because officials there did not want to be associated with Mr. Spitzer and the prostitution scandal that forced him from the governorship of New York in 2008, according to a person told of the decision by Harvard officials." WTC memorial jury chairman Vartan Gregorian said, "They would not do anything, in my opinion, to scuttle the vision of Arad and Walker, and they also know the ways of New York and how things are done," and the Times notes that two members of DBB's design team are black, whereas all the designers involved with the WTC rebuild so far have been white. Davis Brody Bond projects around the city, besides the Harvard Club and NYPL expansions mentioned in the papers, include the NYU dorm on East 14th (between 3rd and 4th Avenues), the Walter Reade Theater at Lincoln Center, and that ugly Union Square Building, Zeckendorf Towers. more ›
