The Giants won their first playoff game since their Super Bowl victory and their first home playoff game since 2001 with a 24-2 thrashing of Atlanta on Sunday. The defense had a huge day, keeping the pressure on Matt Ryan and coming up with several huge stops in close yardage situations.
Last Night's Action: Giants Ground Falcons And Head To Green Bay!
Last Night's Action: Almost
The Giants did a lot of things well in their 38-35 loss to Green Bay, but ultimately the defense let them down again. New York trailed 35-27 with just over three minutes remaining in the game before launching a nine-play drive to tie the game. Hakeem Nicks caught his second touchdown of the game to make it 35-33 and D.J. Ware punched the two-point conversion into the end zone to tie things up. But, New York left 58 seconds on the clock and that proved to be way too much time.
A Giant Test Against New England Today
Giants' fans will see plenty of Super Bowl XLII highlights on Sunday's Giants-Patriots broadcast—which should help take the sting out of the actual game. New England hasn't lost a regular season home game since 2008, and they haven't lost back-to-back games since 2009. They were already going to be a tough opponent. Then the injury bug hit the Giants and turned the improbable into the almost impossible.
Can The Giants Get Back On Track?
After last week's debacle in Washington, the Giants desperately need a win before facing Philadelphia next week. Unfortunately, most of the injury problems that plagued them last week are still there and some new ones have sprung up. Justin Tuck is questionable as he is still trying to get over his sprained neck. To make matters worse, Hakeem Nicks has a bruised knee and has been barely able to practice all week. But, the Rams have injury problems of their own. Their star running back, Steven Jackson, is questionable with a thigh injury and their best receiver, Danny Amendola, is doubtful with an elbow injury.
The Giants Seek Revenge In Minnesota Detroit
It was almost a year ago that the Giants were humiliated by Minnesota to close out the 2009 season. It brought an end to one of the worst seasons ever by a Giants’ defense. Tom Coughlin is probably reminding his players of that 44-7 shellacking every chance he gets.
Can The Giants Build A Winning Streak?
The Giants get their first glimpse of Donovan McNabb in a new uniform when they face Washington today. McNabb has put the Redskins in the top-half of the league in passing yards, but they are only 25th in scoring, averaging 19.5 points per game. That combined with a defense that allows the most yards per game in the league has left Washington with a 5-6 record so far in 2010.
Last Night's Action: A Good Start
The Giants open up things at the new (shared) stadium with an ugly win over Carolina, the Yankees get swept by the Rangers, and the Mets fell to the Phillies.
Day 1 of the NFL Draft, Highlighted by Sanchez Pick
The Jets got their man by acting boldly, but they may have overpaid at the expense of other areas. New York got to pick Mark Sanchez by making a trade with Cleveland that gave them the #5 pick in the draft. In return, New York sent their first and second round picks and three players, including starter Kenyon Coleman to Cleveland. But, if the Jets are right and Sanchez is a true franchise QB, the trade is worth it. New York just better find someone for him to throw the ball to with their four picks today.
