According to the Post, after one man shot Juan Medina, 24, twice in the stomach, his cousin, Lourdes Guillen, 25, begged the shooter, "Put the gun down. Don’t be that person." But Guillen, a staffer at "The View," ended up with a bullet in the stomach.

Police say that a man who fatally shot his 13-year-old sister and wounded his mother was later wounded by police officers who were canvassing the area for him. The shootings occurred in Harlem—the 13-year-old and the 44-year-old were shot inside the Polo Ground Houses (2971 Frederick Douglass Boulevard) while the suspect was found a block away.
Four Cops Shot By Man Barricaded In Brooklyn Apartment
Early this morning, NYPD Emergency Service Unit officers were shot by a man who had barricaded himself—as well as his pregnant girlfriend and their baby—in a Brooklyn apartment. Mayor Bloomberg visited the officers, who are expected to survive, and said that when the girlfriend "managed to escape with the baby, the officers began to enter and the suspect opened fire. The officers returned fire, striking the suspect who is currently being treated at Kings County Hospital." The officers, whose injuries range from being grazed in the face to being shot twice in the leg, are expected to survive. And police say they found other illegal guns in the suspect's apartment.

As the new-new investigation into the death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin continues, the father of shooter George Zimmerman has spoken out about the night of the fatal shooting. And Robert Zimmerman claims that Martin attacked his son first, broke his nose, and threatened his life the night of Feb. 26: “It’s my understanding that Trayvon Martin got on top of him and just started beating him," the 64-year-old told FOX 35 WOFL. “Trayvon Martin said something to the effect of ‘you’re going to die now’ or ‘you’re going to die tonight.’"

Surveillance video obtained by ABC News seems to contradict the police report about the Florida man who fatally shot an unarmed teenager walking through a gated community at the end of February. The initial police report said that George Zimmerman was bleeding from the back of the head and nose, and he claims his victim, Trayvon Martin, had punched him in the face, knocked him down and bashed his head into the sidewalk. Man Says He Was Shot In Leg After Opening UWS Apt Door
A 20-year-old was shot in the leg after opening his apartment door last night. The Post reports, "The 20-year-old victim said in a 911 call that he let two men into his building on West 100th Street near Riverside Drive believing they were deliverymen, and they attempted to rob him in his fifth-floor, blasting him in the leg." The NYPD is investigating his claims.
Bloody Night In Brooklyn And Bronx Leaves Three Dead, Three Wounded
Two men are dead after fatal shootings in Crown Heights and downtown Brooklyn last night, and several others were left wounded by shootings and stabbings after a particularly violent night. Gunfire broke out just before 8 p.m. at the corner of Prospect Place and Schenectady Avenue in Crown Heights. First responders found 18-year-old Daquan Weston bleeding from gunshot wounds to the lower torso, and rushed him to Kings County Hospital, where he was pronounced DOA. A second victim, age 15, was also shot in the leg and is listed in stable conditions. No arrests were made.

Last month, a black teenager who was walking through a Florida gated townhouse community—to his father's girlfriend's home—was fatally shot by the captain of the neighborhood watch. While George Zimmerman called the police to say, "There's a real suspicious guy. This guy looks like he's up to no good or he's on drugs or something," and was told he didn't need to follow the teen, Trayvon Martin ended up dead. And the teen was unarmed and just carrying Skittles and iced tea. Zimmerman was never arrested, claiming self-defense, but after weeks of criticism from Martin's family and their supporters, and the recent release of 911 tapes, the Justice Department has confirmed it will investigate the shooting.
Off-Duty Rikers Guard Shot Outside Queens Diner
Late last night, an off-duty corrections officer was shot in the stomach outside the USA Diner on Merrick Boulevard in Queens. According to the Daily News, the 29-year-old woman "had shown up with her boyfriend... shortly after 10:30 p.m." But then, the diner's manager, who looked at surveillance footage, told the Daily News, "She got a text on her phone. She checks it, then she starts rubbing her hands together — she’s very nervous."

Early Sunday morning a Queens mother of two of was killed when she was shot 20 times while sitting on the stoop in front of her home. According to the NY Post, at around 3:30 a.m. Sunday Sandra Bajnath, 39, accidentally bumped into an unidentified woman while at the Food Hut Restaurant and Bar on Rockaway Boulevard in South Ozone Park with her husband Anthony Tika and her cousin Sean Seepaul. The trio left soon after to avoid a scene when Bajnath's apology was apparently rejected, retiring to drink on her stoop outside her 135th St home, two blocks away from Food Hut.
Video: Bronx Shooting Victim Released From Hospital With Bullet Still In Neck
On Thursday night, three innocent bystanders were injured when two gunmen fired at a Bronx bodega. Below, you can see the surveillance footage of the shooting, during which 46-year-old Ricardo Acevedo was shot in the back of the head, 15-year-old Aleah Detres was wounded in the abdomen and 12-year-old Mia Washington was hit in the left leg. Amazingly, Acevedo was let out of the hospital less than two hours after he went in—still with the bullet in his neck—because doctors at St. Barnabas told him a local clinic could take the bullet out on Monday. “I feel okay. I don’t know anything about medicine. Since I felt okay, I listened to the doctors," Acevedo told the News.

Man Fatally Shot On Wythe Avenue In Williamsburg
An unidentified man was fatally shot on Williamsburg's southside this afternoon. An FDNY spokesman tells us the shooting was reported at 3:25 p.m., and the victim was pronounced DOA when first responders arrived at the scene, on Wythe Avenue between Broadway and South Sixth Street. He was "possibly shot in the mouth," the spokesman said.

At a press conference late last night, NYPD commissioner Ray Kelly held aloft the bullet that struck Officer Kevin Brennan, 29, a six-year veteran of the NYPD, in Bushwick last night. "He’s one lucky young man," Kelly told reporters, holding a jar containing the bloody bullet that doctors removed from Brennan's skull. "It's a miracle. He's very, very lucky." Brennan was shot once in the face, according to the Times, as he chased a suspected gunman into the Bushwick Houses project last night around 9 p.m. He's expected to make a full recovery.

A police officer was shot in the head around 9 p.m. tonight in Brooklyn, and there's currently a massive police mobilization in search of the shooter. Apparently, two anti-crime police officers saw a man with a gun by the Bushwick Houses; WPIX reports, "They gave chase and followed the suspect into an enclosed area where the man wheeled and fired, striking one of the officers in the head, police said."
