Mayor Bloomberg is targeting gun sales again. His Mayors Against Illegal Guns group has released a new ad telling voters to contact their Senators to close the "gun show loophole," which allows dealers at gun shows to sell guns without background checks. Bloomberg said, "Today marks the 11th anniversary of the tragic shootings at Columbine High School. Last Friday was the three year anniversary of the nation’s deadliest mass shooting at Virginia Tech. Each day, 35 people in America are murdered with guns - the equivalent of a Virginia Tech massacre every single day. Gun Show Undercover is not a new Dick Wolf crime procedural—it's actually NYC's report on the city's investigation into illegal gun sales. According to the city's press release, "The investigation, which covered seven gun shows in three states, proves on video how easy it is for criminals to buy firearms at gun shows. 35 of 47 gun sellers sold to people who said either they probably could not pass a background check or to apparent 'straw purchasers.'" Bloomberg-Supported Anti-Gun Ad Unveiled In Virginia

Never one to shy away from an anti-gun message—especially in a state that once had a "Bloomberg Gun Giveaway"—Mayor Bloomberg was in Virginia to unveil a TV commercial aimed at closing a loophole in the state's gun law that allows gun sales without background at gun shows. And with him were relatives of Virginia Tech shooting victims as well as the mother of NYPD cop Russel Timoshenko, who was fatally shot during a traffic stop.
