Beaten Bouncer Sues Wannabe Reality Star
Have you heard of Rashidah Ali? Even if you don't know the wannabe reality star's name from shows like Real Housewives of Atlanta and Basketball Wives, you'll now know her from... slicing up bouncers! Ali was celebrating her birthday at Greenhouse on January 26th, when she left bouncer Joseph Wright with severed nerves and arteries, and a gash on his face needing 50 stitches.
Police: Infamous EMT's Death Not Vengeance, Just "Karma"
Though it seemed plausible, at least from a Law & Order perspective, that the murder of EMT Jason Green might be connected to the death of a pregnant woman he allegedly refused to help because he was on break, a witness says Green was shot during a fight that started over a parking spot. Police had questioned the deceased pregnant woman's twin brother—a soldier set to return to the Middle East one day after the shooting—but they say he had absolutely nothing to do with Green's murder, which happened early Sunday morning after Green and his friend couldn't get into Greenhouse in Soho.
Police: EMT's Murder Not Linked To Pregnant Woman's Death
Police investigating the murder of an off-duty EMT in Soho Sunday morning say the shooting was not connected to the EMT's infamous, alleged refusal to provide medical attention to a dying pregnant woman last year. The Brooklyn DA has been investigating Jason Green (and his partner, Melisa Jackson), but no criminal charges have been filed against them yet. The woman who died, Eutisha Rennix, had a twin brother, Eudane, who, according to the Daily News, is a soldier scheduled to return to service in the Middle East on Sunday.
EMT Accused Of Ignoring Dying Woman Killed In Soho Shooting
Jason Green, one of the EMTs accused of ignoring a dying pregnant woman last December, was fatally shot earlier this morning in Soho. The Daily News reports, "Jason Green, 32 - who was suspended by the FDNY for 30 days for abandoning Au Bon Pain worker Eutisha Rennix in December - was shot in the face outside of Greenhouse club in Soho about 5 a.m., police said. He was off duty at the time."
Jersey Shore Cast Bring Egos To Eco-Friendly Club
If forced to take sides in a fight between the Jersey Shore cast and the regular tools who frequent downtown eco-club Greenhouse... whose corner would you be in? Allegedly Snooki, Pauly D, The Situation and Vinny all showed up at the club Monday night, and on their way up to the VIP section, Snooki was on the receiving end of some hostility from a non-VIP. Or was she?
Another Billion Dollar Lawsuit Accuses Greenhouse Of Racism
Not to be outdone by that measly $1 billion class action lawsuit filed against Greenhouse—the "eco-friendly" but allegedly black-unfriendly downtown nightclub—some other offended blacks have stepped up with their own $1.5 billion lawsuit! Greenhouse: the "big tobacco" of nightclubs. This new lawsuit is being filed today by Raqiyah Mays, a Kiss FM radio host, and three others who say that they were not let in "due to their race." Isn't it about time for Latinos, Hasidim, and Sikhs to get their piece of the Greenhouse bonanza?
Greenhouse Shut Down After Stabbing, Owner Denies Racism
[UPDATE BELOW] Rumors are swirling about a stabbing at the downtown nightclub Greenhouse, and according to one employee, the club was shut down last night. The closure comes as Greenhouse owners fend off allegations that the club denied entry to approximately 100 people because they are black. Two people have filed a $1 billion class action lawsuit against the ostensibly "eco-friendly" nightclub, accusing the bouncer of barring them from author Teri Woods's book party in August. When Woods arrived at the club she found her invited guests waiting outside. Here's cell phone video of her reaction:
Author Says Greenhouse Club Owner Barred Blacks, Fatties
The author whose book release party at Varick Street nightclub Greenhouse was allegedly ruined by a racist door policy may file a lawsuit of her own. The "eco-friendly" club was recently hit with a $1 billion class action lawsuit, accusing the bouncer and owner of denying entry to approximately 100 people because of their ethnicity. Now author Teri Woods has come forward corroborate the allegations, and she says it wasn't just blacks who were kept out of her party.
Eco-Club Greenhouse Sued For $1 Billion Over Racist Door Policy
The West Soho nightclub Greenhouse has a notoriously tough door policy, and is renowned for excluding throngs of hopefuls from the club's bi-level douchetivities inside. So it's no shocker that two black women interpreted their rejection by the club's door bitch as racist. Kashan Robinson and Maria Sicard are suing Greenhouse; they say they were two of about 100 people who were denied entry to a Teri Woods book party because of their race.
Greenhouse Open For Eco-Conscious Clubgoers
This is Greenhouse, a new 6,000 square foot, bi-level club that opened last week in Soho in the former Club Shelter space. As the name suggests, they're working the eco-friendly angle here with (deep breath) high-efficiency heating, an LED lighting system, fabrics made from recycled materials, bamboo floor and wall coverings, and furniture made with FSC wood. Shanghai Subway Surprise
Mayor Bloomberg continued his whirlwind tour through Asia yesterday with a stop in Bali, Indonesia to talk to United Nations officials about the global effects of climate change. This is after a foray to China, that brought to mind Ed Koch's Beijing inspiration for bike paths in NYC to The New York Times' Clyde Haberman. Like NYC, Bali was the victim of a devastating terrorist attack that killed and injured hundreds of people.
