It shouldn't be a shock to anyone to hear that an executive at Starbucks has a better work environment than a lowly barista. Other than higher pay and a far sweeter benies package, Gothamist imagines the Starbucks executive enjoys a quiter, less asshole-ridden workday (maybe). While to hear that there is a 2-class system for nursing moms on the job there is not surprising, it is still disturbing. Whereas the executive has a comfy and well-equipped lactation room at her disposal, the coffehouse worker has to use the bathroom during her break (assuming their isn't some undesirable in there clogging up the works).

Some start the day with CNN or the Today Show. However, there is a whole cult of parents who start the day with "Sunny days, sweeping the clouds away..." For us parents who spend every morning between 7 and 8am with Sesame Street, the coming a brand new character was something to which we could really look forward. After weeks of television, radio and print promotion Abby Cadabby , the first new female muppet in a decade made her debut today. A self proclaimed "fairy godchild", Abby's trademarks seem to be her glittery pink wings, her cell phone capable magic wand and, oh yeah, her vapid Paris Hilton-like demeanor. Shy and soft spoken, Abby repeatedly whisper-whined that she didn't know how (to play hide and seek, to count to ten) and literally disappeared when she felt unsure. So, excuse my need to put the feminist hat on here for a minute, but Gothamist felt the new Abby was a lot less impressive than the spunky Zoey and the tough Prairie Dawn. Gothamist Baby seemed completely uninterested. We'll give her that she's only supposed to be three years old, but even baby Natasha has a stronger presence.
When Gothamist decided to air its dirty laundry last month, we had no idea what we were starting. Who knew so many people were having the same discoloration issues with their dwell bedding! After running the post, we were quickly contacted by the people at dwell (as you can see from the comments section). They agreed to replace our bedding and asked that we simply use a mild detergent and stay away from anything with "stripping qualities". Unfortunately, dwell no longer carries the vivid leaf green we so adored. In fact, they've discontinued all their super bright colors. In its place, we received a lovely pale blue (pretty, just not quite as striking as the leaf). After a month of wear and washing they have remained in excellent shape and completely colorfast. The only difference in our care of the sheets was that we switched from washing them in Cheer or Tide to Ivory Snow detergent (which we use for all of Gothamist Baby's clothes).
