What's going on in Yankee land? Alex Rodriguez is getting curtain calls and Derek Jeter has set a career high for errors at this point in the season. Through 12 games, Jeter has a whopping 6 errors. The Daily News did some digging into his career and, thanks to the Elias Sports Bureau, found that in his career Jeter, through 11 games, had never more than 2 errors. Even more insane is that he didn't reach the 6-error mark until his 50th game last season. Half of Jeter's errors came on ground balls, while the other half were throwing errors.
Cameron Shipping Out
The trade would end a brief stint with the Mets for Cameron, who joined the Mets in 2004 with much hope. The Gold Glove center fielder solidified the Mets defense, at least on paper, but he struggled at times in Flushing. Before the 2005 season, the Mets signed Beltran, which caused Cameron to move to right field, where he played most of the season before the season-ending collision. At various points throughout the season, Cameron expressed his interest to return to center field and with this trade, he will get his wish.
Jeter, A-Rod, Sheffield Pick Up Awards
The New York Post is reporting that Derek Jeter will win the Gold Glove today. The Gold Glove, presented to the best fielder at each position, will be Jeter's 2nd in a row. Jeter's .979 fielding percentage was good for 2nd best for eligible players in the American League.
