Isiah is Blowing It Up with the Knicks

All is well in Knicks camp. They're playing well on the court, fans love them, MSG is packed, all their players are completely sane, and their coach/GM is the talk of the town. Actually, that's how things are in Knicks-fantasy land. Back here on planet earth, the Knicks are a dismal 2-7, sitting at the bottom of the Atlantic Division, their star point guard is coming off the bench, and their coach/GM is throwing his... more ›

Uncle Cliffy, Suspended!

Uncle Cliffy, Suspended!

Nets player Cliff Robinson has been suspended for five games after violating the NBA's drug policy. What the violation was exactly is unclear, but what is clear is that the suspension is effective tonight's Game 3 against the Miami Heat and that it wipes him out for the rest of this series. Which sucks, because the Nets needed him to guard Shaq and take those fouls. Robinson was suspended for violating the drug policy in 2005 when he was with the Golden State Warriors, right before he was traded to the Nets. Oh, Uncle Cliffy! more ›

No Win Yet

No Win Yet

Larry Brown still longs for his first win as the head coach of the New York Knicks. At 0-5, it would be nice if that win would come sooner than later. Last night, the Knicks came mighty close against the Golden State Warriors, but lost the game in the final minute, 86-84. Despite the fact that the Knicks came out to play in the first quarter (ha, we're so funny), ending the first period of play with a 10 point lead, they fell short. The Knicks even led by 13 at one point and held the lead for more than half the game (33 minutes). It's like they can't buy a break. more ›

Tim Thomas earn$ his pay again, and Knicks win!

Tim Thomas earn$ his pay again, and Knicks win!

Friday's ugly loss to the Magic put some spark in the Knicks on Sunday. They beat the Golden State Warriors 115-99 at MSG, and have now won 4 of their last 5. The trio of Tim Thomas, Stephon Marbury, and Michael Sweetney scored a total of 70 (!!) for NY, and new acquisition Mo Taylor added 15 points and 5 rebounds off the bench. Friday's setback aside, it does seem like the somewhat maligned trades have brought some fresh energy to the Knicks' clubhouse. Can the wins continue? And is anyone surprised that Tim Thomas has found his shot right as he's coming into a contract year? more ›

Feel Lucky?

Feel Lucky?

Unlike last year's draft, which had high schooler LeBron James as the top prize, this year's draft seems to be short on impact players and long on potential. When the draft finally comes around at the end of June, expect to hear the word "upside" at least 70 times. Perhaps Gothamist will keep a count. UConn junior Emeka Okafor, fresh off a national title, figures to be the top selection this year. more ›
