Dina Matos McGreevey appeared on Oprah today as part of the publicity tour for her book, Silent Partner: A Memoir of My Marriage, about her marriage to former NJ governor James McGreevey. Of course, the estranged couple have exchanged angry accusations (McGreevey said his estranged wife was using their 5-year-old daughter for publicity while she fired back about portraits of naked men in his home) to the point where a judge had to tell both McGreeveys to put aside their bitter differences for the sake of their child.
Dina Dishes On "Gay American" McGreevey To Oprah
McGreevey Divorce Gets Contentious––and More Public
That one strikes us as slightly gratuitous in reference. Jim McGreevey responded to the allegations, saying that he had the nude photo, which was art, removed after Dina complained and that he was acting as a good father by allowing his daughter to come to him if she couldn't sleep or got scared in the night, but never let her sleep in his bed.
Extra, Extra
-- The City Council has decided to open up the cable market to more competition. It's about time-- Time Warner cable has been having a major outage across Manhattan since 10am! It's been more than 12 hours with no updates, and we missed Project Runway tonight. Vendetta!
"Lover"'s Denial During McGreevey Publicity Overdrive
Just as New York magazine published its big gay excerpt of former NJ governor James McGreevey's book today, Golan Cipel (pictured), the aide who McGreevey claimed to have an affair with while in office, says he never had an affair with McGreevey and that he (Cipel) is not gay. Back in 2004 when McGreevey stepped down, it was rumored that Cipel had been blackmailing McGreevey to keep quiet about the affair. In older interviews, Cipel said that McGreevey had been harrassing him, and in today's Times article, McGreevey apparently tried to get Cipel drunk with Jagermeister.
McGreevey Steps Down Citing Extramarital Affair
Governor James McGreevey announced yesterday that he was stepping down as Governor of the Garden State yesterday in a press conference where he also announced that he was gay. With support from his ex-wife and current wife, McGreevey said he had his feelings since adolescence and that the truth was that he was "a gay American", that he "engaged in an adult consensual affair with another man", and that "given the circumstances surrounding the affair and its likely impact upon my family and my ability to govern, I have decided the right course of action is to resign."
