Today marks the start of the 2nd annual New York Gypsy Festival. The 2-week "Fiesta Romani" will run from September 24th and October 8th. Once again, the festival will offer a broad perspective on various styles of gypsy music and dance.

For a long time we didn't listen to Wolfmother just because they had "wolf" in their name. We were sick it. Wolfmother, Wolf Eyes, We Are Wolves..."how could any of them be better than Wolf Parade?" we thought.

Last year Gothamist headed down to Austin for SXSW to help launch Austinist amongst other things. This year we're headed back down to throw our own Austinist + Gothamist day party. We'll have a pretty flyer and more details to post on that soon, but for now we're going to tell you about the afterparty...

This kind of weather makes us want to do one thing, and one thing only: walk through the snow filled streets with a hot chocolate in one hand and John Cusack in the other. Mmm...serendipitous. Reality, however, will leave us with wet jean cuffs as we trudge through dirty (and oft yellow) snow. But at least we'll be on the way to something fun.
