A reader wrote us to ask if we noticed "an upswing in tap water stink of late," saying that he noticed a chlorine smell in his "Brooklyn apartment, Queens workplace, and various spots betwixt the two," with a " markedly stronger chemical/chlorine 'bouquet'." And Gothamist actually has - while we wait for our humidifier tank to fill, the water has been smelling rather chemically/bleachy. Does anyone know what's happening with the tap water? Did something accidentally happen to our drinking water reservoirs? If someone has a friend at the DEP and can tell us why, we'd love to be less paranoid.

Hot pilot news: One of Gothamist's favorite TV producers, the brilliant Tom Fontana, will be headed to the WB with a drama series set in a "small liberal arts college in NYC" that will center around a human behavior class. Fontana said, "The show specifically centers on a human behavior seminar where (the students) openly talk about their sexual lives or the lack of sexual lives and come to understand themselves and the world they live in better." It'll film in NYC (we guess the pilot will probably get a Made in New York logo), and Gothamist found this tidbit in the Variety story (unfortunately, subscription necessary) a hoot:

The writers, a he-said-she-said team, use Columbia dorms as pseudonyms say, "Nothing is off-limits. We're not trying to offend people, but there will be people offended. It's hard to be politically correct when talking about anal sex." But some students think it's crass and tacky: A junior tells the Post, "They make it seem that one-night stands are as much a part of the weekend as drinking beer." Well, wait till you graduate, dearie, wait till you graduate, and then'll be a part of your every day.

Take twoOne of my first thoughts when I woke up in the middle of the night with a throbbing pain in my right calf and was trying not to scream was "I have to figure out what this is online." With tools like Yahoo!Health, Go Ask Alice and WebMD, people are more and more empowered to learn about their health. But the flipside of that is that this is a psychosomatic's dream - myself included (I have been singing this song from Guys and Dolls lately, during my cold). I keep meaning to ask my doctor if she gets more people who try to self diagnose themselves. I think this a great Ph.D. paper topic. By the way, I did figure out what my pain was.
