Mad Men, Boardwalk Empire Lead In Emmy Nominations

The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences this morning announced the nominees for the 63rd Primetime Emmy Awards (here's the official PDF). Video: Glee Visits New York, New York, A Helluva Town

Last night was Glee's season finale set in the Big Apple, and the show opened with shots of the city and "Rhapsody in Blue." The New Directions choir broke out in a mash-up of Madonna's "I Love New York" and "New York, New York" from the musical On The Town (yes, the Bronx is up and the Battery's down) as they danced in Times Square, Washington Square Park, Central Park and Lincoln Center. Oh, and Puck's New York dream is to: "Throw stuff from the Brooklyn Bridge." You can watch the entire episode here: more ›

Patti Lupone To Guest On Glee Finale

Patti Lupone To Guest On Glee Finale

It's only fitting that for a show so fond of Broadway stars as guests (see: Idina Menzel, Kristin Chenowith, and uh, Neil Patrick Harris?), Glee should land the Big Mama (Rose) of them all for their upcoming season finale, Patti Lupone. The Great White Way legend, late of Gypsy, has apparently will be acting against Lea Michele and Cory Monteith in the May 28th finale. No further details have been released, but borderline-creepy Twitter account @BroadwaySpotted has been tracking Lupone's every move! more ›

Glee Stops By Tiffany's, Sings Rumours

Glee Stops By Tiffany's, Sings Rumours

The Glee cast is still in town (and celebrating the weather with short shorts) filming their season two finale (which will air May 24th), and every day more stalktastic photos surface that have Gleeks speculating on what the episode will bring. The Stir just did some stalking of their own, and last night reported back that they were at Tiffany's. Which has us wondering, will they recreating Audrey Hepburn in the movie, singing "Moon River," or this: more ›

Glee Stars Tweeting Their Way Through NYC

Glee Stars Tweeting Their Way Through NYC

Glee is still filming in New York, and today they'll be around 58th Street between 5th and Madison avenues, as well as 44th Street and 8th Avenue (you're welcome, Gleeks). Yesterday the show took over parts of Central Park, with a scene between Lea Michele and Cory Monteith (where the former had to stand on a box to make up for the height difference). The whole cast has been Tweeting their Big Apple adventures, from drinking alone at bars, to blaming housekeeping for "lost" items. more ›

Mayor Bloomberg Joins The Cast Of Glee! (For A Photo Opp)

Don't tell the cast of Glee to "go back to Ohio" if you see them in town this week... Mayor Bloomberg met the cast today and has announced: "NYC is open to everyone: Greeks, Geeks, Gleeks." And with that, our long-standing ban of Gleeks has been lifted. more ›

Glee Rumours: Cast To Cover Entire Fleetwood Mac Album

Glee Rumours: Cast To Cover Entire Fleetwood Mac Album

Last night LA's PaleyFest was all about Glee, and rumor has it the show will dedicate a full episode to Fleetwood Mac's Rumours. According to Deadline, "the show’s creators had long wanted to do an episode devoted to an album as opposed to an artist." Anytime someone pays homage to this album, it's reason to celebrate—so it's lucky for the show's creators that this news softens the blow of their other announcement: Gwyneth Paltrow will return to the show for at least one more episode. more ›

Glee Star Speaks Out Against Carriage Horses, Again

Glee Star Speaks Out Against Carriage Horses, Again

Glee star Lea Michele is the latest to face to grace PETA's campaign to end carriage horses in NYC. The poster she appears in sports plenty of the tween-friendly hot pink color, and urges: “Help put horse-drawn carriages out to pasture." In bold lettering it declares: "horses don’t belong in NYC traffic.” The ad will be seen on bus kiosks around the city, thanks to a donation from Manhattan Mini-Storage. more ›

Remember When Giuliani Dressed In Drag?

Remember When Giuliani Dressed In Drag?

In its recap of Glee, Arts Beat wrotes, "Chris Colfer’s recreation of 'Le Jazz Hot' from 'Victor/Victoria'... was a daring moment for the show and one of the bolder bits of transvestism since Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani popped up in that same musical." Which brings us to the NY Times' coverage of that 1997 moment: "No one was fully prepared for the sight of New York City's brawling Mayor as he tottered onto the New York Hilton stage Saturday night in high heels, a full-figured spangled pink gown, a platinum-blond wig and several pounds of makeup..." more ›

2010 Emmy Noms: Glee Leads With 19, Conan Gets A Nod

2010 Emmy Noms: Glee Leads With 19, Conan Gets A Nod

The Emmys showed the nomination love to Glee, Mad Men, Lost, Modern Family, The Good Wife, and many more programs. Glee's Matthew Morrison and Lea Michele got lead acting nods, while Chris Colfer and Jane Lynch were recognized in the supporting category (if Lynch doesn't win, it'll just be another Emmy screwup), as part of Glee's 19 nominations. And here's a show that we'd like to see win: Conan O'Brien's Tonight Show was nominated for best variety or sketch comedy program (as well as best writing for variety or sketch comedy), while Letterman and Leno's show weren't. more ›

"Glee" Inspires Kids to Join School Choir

"Glee" Inspires Kids to Join School Choir

Schools like the LaGuardia HS for Music & Art and Performing Arts apparently want to sound more like McKinley High. City educators are crediting new music recruits and enthusiasm for choir to the success of the Fox hit "Glee." High School show choir director Carl Johnson told the Post that the show made it "a little cooler for the kids to talk about what they're doing with their [nonchoir] friends, because they can make the comparison to the show." Of course, LaGuardia is already a performing arts school, so the social stigma of joining a choir is exponentially lower. more ›

No 'Glee' in Thanksgiving Day Parade

No 'Glee' in Thanksgiving Day Parade

Everybody in New York knows that Thanksgiving is about one thing and one thing only: self-promotion. So it is with honor for our melting-pot of a country that NBC has reportedly banned the cast of 'Glee' from performing at the Thanksgiving Day Parade. The cast of the hit Fox show was set to sing their hit cover of "Don't Stop Believin'" for the 83rd Annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, but apparently NBC didn't want to showcase their rivals' hit show. But wait, now who will provide the traditional Journey sing-along our forefathers fought for? more ›
