The infamously botched Nazi infiltration of Long Island in 1942 is detailed in newly released documents (below) from Britain's National Archive. Instead of trying to establish a Third Reich beach head in East Hampton, their mission was to sabotage American factories and hinder the war effort. But hings did not go according to plan, and the German agents in this declassified report come off like a bunch of bumbling Sergeant Schultzes.

Deutsche Börse AG is the operator of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, and the merger would create the world’s largest global financial market. Power Outage Panic Inside Empire State Building
Two elevators inside the Empire State Building stopped working last night when construction workers accidentally cut power lines. Over five hundred tourists were stranded on the observation deck while more than a dozen were stuck in an elevator near the 80th floor for over an hour. Two women were injured when, witnesses said, they had to jump off the stuck lifts about a foot to the floor. Both were taken to the hospital.
