Moises Alou shook off an injury and provided three hits and a RBI. David Wright had 3 RBI’s and Jorge Sosa pitched two solid innings of relief. The only down note was that Paul LoDuca got hit by a pitch and had to leave the game. His status is listed as day-to day.

President Bush visited New York City yesterday to encourage Congress to reauthorize his No Child Left Behind program. Bush gave a speech at the Harlem Village Academy school and praised its founder, faculty and students and emphasized the importance of the NCLB Act. Bush made it a point to visit all eight classrooms and shake every student's hand, prompting one student to tell the Sun, "I think it was the best day of my life," and a teacher to ask Bush for more money to be added to NCLB.

That look on the faces of former Mayors David Dinkins and Ed Koch comes "Listening to President Bush Speak." The President is in NYC today, speaking at Federal Hall downtown, giving a "State of the Economy" speech, and you can read about it here at the White House website. Since many of New York State's elections were runaways, the real election action was seeing how the House and Senate would turn - with the Democrats taking control of the house, which makes Nancy Pelosi possibly the first female Speaker of the House. The control of the Senate is still in question - votes are being counted and re-counted in the Virginia and Montana races (Democratic challenger John Tester has a narrow lead over incumbent Conrad Burns in Montana; Senator George Allen trails Democrat Jim Webb by just 6,000 votes). In one of last night's too-close-too-call elections, with incumbent Jim Talent conceding to Democrat Claire McCaskill.

As the playoffs near, the Nets have less and less to play for. Barring a drastic turnaround in the standings, they will end up as the three seed. Still, Gothamist likes their perforances in recent nights, including Tuesday's 112-100 win at Washington. Those stumbles of late February and early March now look more like a momentary disruption than a bad sign for the playoffs.
