This morning, starting at 6:00 a.m. WABC radio (770 AM) is tossing out its right-leaning talk format for WABC Rewound - twelve hours in favor of how it sounded in its music radio top 40 glory days of the 1960s and 1970s for the eighth straight year. We always loved the retro sound, even though we weren’t around to hear it when it was new, so we definitely will enjoy hearing how radio sounded back when mono AM radio was king – complete with jingles, news, and commercials.

Last Monday, Gothamist set down with award winning sportscaster Len Berman. A New York native, Berman attended Stuyvesant High School and started his broadcast career while a student at Syracuse University. He got his start in television news as a reporter (and later news anchor) in 1970 at WLWD-TV (now WDTN-TV)in Dayton, Ohio. Three years later, he moved to Boston’s WBZ-TV, where he served as sports director and called Boston Celtics and New England Patriots games. In 1979 he returned to New York as weekend sports anchor for WCBS-TV.

No, not forcing her to become bulimic after seeing all the models - it was the smoking environment. And ViceFeed is funny, too: ""

OK, so I used to be much more of an anglophile than I am now - you know, listened to Blur, Pulp, The Stone Roses, and all that pretentious rock of the Nineties. After having spent a week in Manchester and trying to find a decent restaurant of any cuisine -- any -- and after having realized I was more likely to find a Zionist in Pakistan than fresh fish and vegetables in the UK, I gave up my anglophilia and decided that New York City is the only decent location in the world.
