If you're still wavering, you might want to know that the event's organizers will be making a donation to Citymeals-on-wheels, which provides hand-delivered meals to homebound elderly New Yorkers. It looks to be a good week for poverty-stricken ice cream afficianados. Today is Free Cone Day at Ben & Jerry's Scoop Shops. Baskin-Robbins is responding with Free Scoop Night tomorrow evening from 6 to 10 PM. Having done the Ben & Jerry's thing before, I can tell you that you're likely to burn off all those calories waiting impatiently in line for your free grub. However, between those of us here at Gothamist who eat no fat, those who eat no lean and those who claim to be lactose intolerant, this is probably one event we're skipping.
