Friends and family couldn't believe that 26-year-old Park Slope resident Karl Vanderwoude could be the perp—and now that his alibi has checked out, the DA is expected to drop all charges against him on Monday. “A lot of people say they didn’t do it. This is the real case,” said lawyer Douglas Burns.

This comes a day after Councilwomen Margaret Chin and Jessica Lappin distributed flyers around Chinatown warning women about the groper: "We're trying to make sure people know what this man looks like, so they can help us catch him," Lappin said.

A Bronx teacher has been arrested and accused of repeatedly punching and sitting on top of a 12-year-old student. Evelyn Tirado, 53, has been accused of assaulting Brigitte Aznaran last Thursday at Dr. Richard Izquierdo Health and Science Charter School in Morrisania. “She grabbed me by my arms, threw me to the floor and starting hitting my arm,” the sixth grader told the Daily News. “Then she sat on top of me like I was a chair. Dennis Perry, 32, was wearing mesh shorts and no underwear when he began following female passers-by on Seventh Avenue between 32nd and 42nd streets at 1:35 p.m. Tuesday, cops said." He was charged with four counts of sexual abuse as well as forcible touching.
LI Restaurant Owner Allegedly Assaulted Teen Worker
The Nassau County Police say that a Bellmore restaurant owner was arrested after assaulting a 16-year-old female worker. According to the Long Island Press, "Police said [Mermat] Arslan, who is the owner of Mediterranean Kebab Restaurant [in Westbury], was closing up the restaurant after all the cooks and servers had left when he locked the doors to the building knowing a young girl was still inside at 10:30 p.m. Thursday. Arslan grabbed the victim and began forcible touching her without her consent, police said. She was able to push away and flee from the restaurant." Arslan was charged with sexual abuse, forcible touching and endangering the welfare of a child. Police are also asking anyone who experienced a similar incident to contact them.
Girl Sexually Assaulted By Classmates, Mom Sues City
A Queens woman is suing the city after her 12-year-old daughter was allegedly forced into a locker room and sexually assaulted by seven male classmates. The suit claims the victim had been knocked to the ground in Pathways College Preparatory School in Hollis, Queens, and then dragged into a locker room by 12- and 13-year-old boys, where they allegedly rubbed their crotches in her face. The girl's lawyer told the Daily News, "It was like bedlam in that gym that day."
Lawyer Accused of Groping Female Employees
Yikes: The Manhattan DA's office charged a well-known lawyer with forcible touching, third-degree sex abuse and harassment after two female employees complained about his advances. The lawyer, 68-year-old Richard Dienst (father of WNBC reporter Jonathan Dienst), did not enter a plea during his arraignment yesterday.
Councilman Gallagher Pleads Guilty to Sexual Assault and Will Resign
Dennis Gallagher, the married City Councilman representing Queens who was accused of raping a constituent in a drunken encounter last year, announced his planned resignation after pleading guilty to sexual abuse and forcible touching. Last summer, a 52-year-old woman alleged that she met Gallagher at a bar in Queens and after a night of drinking went with the Councilman to his district office, where he raped her.
