MOVIE: MoMA is currently running a retrospective on Joan Blondell, titled The Bombshell from Ninety-first Street. Trace the metamorphosis of the Manhattan-born actress from a young blonde bombshell to...a blonde bombshell in more mature roles! Tonight you can catch her in Blondie Johnson (1933) and Nightmare Alley (1947).

In some Chinese families, some relatives are referred to by their birth order instead of a name, like "Number 1 Sister" or "Number 4 Brother." And this goes for baby pandas, too, as the Wolong Nature Reserve's Research and Conservation Center for Giant Panda scientists refer to the baby pandas born between July and September of 2006 as numbers 1 to 18. Eager to change this, the research center is asking the public to give these adorable cubs English names. Next thing you know, the Wolong Nature Reserve will be issuing panda plushes based on each one.

You have just a couple more days to decide whether you'll be dressed up or dressed down next Tuesday for Halloween. New York magazine has a How to Dress Like... Halloween Guide for anyone who want to dress up like Naomi Campbell, Borat, Kim Jong Il, Flava Flav or Baby Suri Cruise; there are even some high-concept ideas like tainted spinach! Our favorite is Dog the Bounty Hunter, because Cartman really inspired us.

As Steven Van Zandt was organizing the Save CBGB's concert in Washington Square Park yesterday afternoon, the CBGB's landlord, the Bowery Residents' Committee, announced they hoped "CBGB's will vacate the premises." However, CBGB's owner Hilly Kristal said, "We're going to fight. We deserve to be here. If they padlock the club, we're going to cut the locks." Little Stevie added that if there are court proceedings, supporters would be there with, too, making Gothamist wonder how that fight will play out in the press: Rock fans versus the homeless.
