Somewhere far out in Brooklyn, men on motorcycles are getting extreme with their workouts. To be sure, the giant weights seen here are most likely a lightweight prop, but still, how many reps can you do of anything while popping a wheelie on your motorcycle? Be sure to stay tuned 'til the very end, when this guy's awesomeness becomes so intense that he actually [SPOILER ALERT] sets his back tire on fire... and then turns into a Transformer:

Murder Of 15-Year-Old In Brooklyn Playground May Have Been Gang-Related
Authorities have few answers in Saturday's shooting in Brooklyn that killed 15-year-old Dequan Mercurius and wounded a 13-year-old boy, but some neighbors are speculating that the victims were caught in the crossfire of gang-related violence. A 17-year-old witness tells the Daily News, "Everything was good," at PS 119's playground, until bullets started flying into the yard from outside the fence. "It's Bloods and Crips out there," the boy said. "It was wrong place, wrong time," the boy's aunt says, "We know he's not in a gang. Not this child." Police say the wounded 13-year-old has "told investigators very little."
Brooklyn Liquor Store Robbers Apparently Didn't Think Things Through
Yesterday we told you about an unfolding hostage situation at Arrow Wine and Liquor Store in Flatlands, Brooklyn. This morning additional details about the harrowing event have come to light. It appears that the two robbers—Ted Peters, 23, and Andrew Philson, 25—weren't the brightest bulbs in the pack.
Doctor Plows Into Pedestrians, Doesn't Offer Medical Help
You're a doctor who just jumped the curb in your SUV, ramming into several businesses and hitting two pedestrians. Do you, A) offer immediate medical assistance to the bloody people you've just run over? B) Call 911 so EMS can get to the scene as ASAP? Or C) Get your lawyer on the phone STAT? If your name is Pushpa Raj Bhansali and you totaled your SUV in Flatlands yesterday morning, the answer is definitely C, according to "disgusted witnesses" cited in the Post. But a friend of Bhansali insists he did nothing wrong, and the law is on his side. Remember the Hippocratic Oath? So 4th Century BC.
Is NYPD Recruit Covering Up Plaxico-Style Shooting?
Kirk Bunn (or Dunn), an NYPD recruit, is recovering from surgery that removed a bullet from his abdomen while investigators attempt to find his shooter. Bunn claims that while driving through Flatlands on Saturday night, another driver cut him off. Bunn pulled his car alongside the offending car and began arguing with the driver, which eventually led to the two getting out of their cars to curse at each other. The antagonist then allegedly pulled out a gun and shot Bunn once in the stomach. However, what little evidence they have is making police question Bunn's story.
Brooklyn Fire Guts Six Businesses
A fire in the Flatlands destroyed six storefronts in a strip on Flatbush Avenue around 1 a.m. on Sunday, and raged for over three hours before about 140 firefighters were able to put it out. Investigators say the fire started at a Chinese restaurant and quickly spread down the block to other businesses, including a popular bagel shop. Dave's Bagel Shop's former owner, Bruce Benkel, told the Daily News, "I'm really stunned. You know these things can happen, but you never think they will. It was always my worst nightmare as a business owner."
Timeless Look at Brooklyn Vodou Party
For the past year or so, photographer Stephanie Keith has been going to the Flatlands in Brooklyn for dead-of-night vodou ceremonies. Her audio slide show about her experiences is killer. While we've been sleeping the night away, she's been dancing to drumming and watching spirit possession in a rum-soaked basement. By the end of one "party" there were about seven people all possessed at the same time! Unfortunately, she wasn't allowed to take pictures when the Gede spirit "mounted" participants, but still got off some great shots. "I keep telling my friends I wish I could get mounted by a spirit, but that never happened," Keith wistfully remarks. She's actually attended ten vodou ceremonies so far, but Gede is still playing hard to get. [Via Boing Boing]
Alleged MTA Scammer Found Living in the Lap of Luxury
Detectives from the Brooklyn DA's office must have felt like they were in an episode of Cribs when they went through the belongings of an MTA supervisor suspected of taking kickbacks. When they arrived at the Flatlands home of Jacqueline Jackson, the agency's director of legal support, they found five flat screen televisions, five fur coats and a Mercedes parked in the driveway (for when her Lincoln Navigator is in the shop). In case she ever got bored in the tub, one of those flat screens was in the bathroom. Jackson, whose annual salary is $83,000, is suspended as the DA and the MTA inspector general look into whether she inflated bills submitted by a Brooklyn company and made off with the difference. Her lawyer told the News, "Time will prove her vindication," while a neighbor offered, "She's living large."
