What was one of the last meals for the first class passengers on board the Titanic? The lunch menu for the midday meal served on April 14th,1912 is now up on the auction block in the UK, and is expected to sell for $157,960 USD. The menu was on the table of Dr. Washington Dodge, a banker from San Francisco who was traveling with his wife and son. The entire family survived the tragic crash, and his wife Ruth had the menu from that afternoon, placing it in her handbag. It has been in the family since, and is one of the rarest pieces of Titanic memorabilia. more ›

L.I. Civilian Allegedly Dressed As Soldier To Get First Class Upgrade

A man with a military-style buzz cut wearing army fatigues and dog tags was arrested at JFK airport Friday afternoon after a customs official caught him impersonating a soldier, cops allege. Rock Diaz, 22, was returning from the Dominican Republic in camouflage fatigues when the official asked him what his rank was. DIaz allegedly told him "E-5," referring to a pay grade, but the Post reports that Diaz was wearing the insignia of a staff sergeant which is "E-6." He also couldn't say where he was stationed or produce a military I.D. It seems the same sloppy attention to detail seen in his dog tags, too. more ›

The NY Daily News has a thorough description of the "superjumbo jet" that includes amenities such as an on-board lounge with a massage system, bathrooms where passengers can shower, and an entertainment system with more than 1,200 channels to choose from. The Emirates Airbus A380 completed its 13 1/2 hour flight from Dubai in such comfort that passengers "felt like they had just emerged from a heavenly limousine ride. " The A380 burns 20% less fuel and costs 17% less to fly than the standard 747-400. more ›
