Feud Alert: Lady Gaga (Maybe) Dissed Weird Al!

Parody song superhero Weird Al Yankovic has been doing his thing his way for over 25 years now; for a good stretch of that time, getting a Weird Al remake was a sign you had truly made it, and everyone from Michael Jackson to Nirvana gave their hearty approval at Weird Al's accordion-laced, PG-13 homages. But it seems Weird Al has hit a little snag with his latest parody: the Lady Gaga doth protest. [HAPPY UPDATE BELOW] more ›

Man Killed In Barbershop Shootout Lost a Son On 9/11

Today's Post sheds some light on the decades-old feud that ended Tuesday in the grisly death of 77 year-old retired fireman Carmelo Calabro in a Bensonhurst barbershop. While Calabro's family never got along with the family of his shooter, Michael Mininni, people living on the block noted that tensions escalated considerably after Calabro lost his son in the attacks of September 11, 2001. "It changed him a lot" one neighbor said. "You could see he was a different person." more ›

Feuding Neighbors Get In Deadly Shootout In Bensonhurst

Two long-feuding neighbors got into an argument inside a barber shop in Bensonhurst yesterday, leaving one neighbor dead of a gunshot wound to the head. Carmelo Calabro, 77, lived next door to Michael Mininni, 25, and his family on Bay 13th Street, and reportedly hated the Minninis so much that he erected a six-foot stone wall between their houses. Over 30 years living next door to each other the families have filed 14 harassment suits against each other, and yesterday the fighting boiled over into violence. more ›

Feud Between Bloomberg, Morgenthau Cost City Millions

Feud Between Bloomberg, Morgenthau Cost City Millions

Earlier this month, Mayor Bloomberg tried to halfheartedly quell an old man fight between himself and undead Manhattan DA Robert Morgenthau, telling reporters, "As long as he's in compliance with the law, that's fine with me." But it's exactly those kinds of passive aggressive insinuations—that the DA might not be following the law—that drives Morgenthau to call Bloomberg names like "chickenshit." And now it's emerged that their war without end has cost tens of millions of dollars that would have gone to the city if Bloomberg had just kept his mouth shut and not tried to lean on Morgenthau for more. more ›

Bloomberg Calls Truce With Morgenthau, But Some Hear Threat

Bloomberg Calls Truce With Morgenthau, But Some Hear Threat

Long-simmering tensions between Mayor Bloomberg and undead District Attorney Robert Morgenthau boiled over last week when the mayor's office accused the DA of quietly keeping $83 million in settlements, fines and forfeitures in 62 "secret" bank accounts. One official said Morgenthau's office kept "two sets of books" in order to bypass the city’s financial review process. But Morgenthau's camp insisted the city has known about the accounts for years, and speculated that Bloomberg was actually retaliating against Morgenthau because he's frustrated that 40% of the DA's settlement money still gets kicked up to the state. Bloomberg wants it all, and Morgenthau called his tactics "chickenshit." But that was last week! more ›

Fey and Baldwin Didn't Feud on Set

Fey and Baldwin Didn't Feud on Set

Alec Baldwin just can't keep his mouth shut, not when it comes to his daughter, or the Upper West Side...or his meal ticket. Star reports, "During a recent photo shoot on the set, the notoriously difficult actor sniped to the photographer, 'Get ready to do a lot of airbrushing.' Tina, who has a childhood scar on her left cheek, fired back, 'Something wrong with my face?' Alec upped the ante by saying it's her entire body that's the problem." A verbal spar with Tina Fey? Oh, Alec. She shot back saying "this was coming from a guy with a double chin who thinks Sarah Palin is hot," which allegedly had Baldwin fuming. Those close to the feud think that Fey, creator and star of 30 Rock, is finally gaining some confidence and beginning to call her co-worker out on things, though Gawker suspects the feud was created to drum up publicity for the show. Hmm, where's Oprah? Or that 12-year-old girl Pam? UPDATE: OK! Magazine disputes Star's rumor: "Alas, show insiders tell OK! that this is all just a mean-spirited dream. Not only was there no catfight during the photoshoot — there hasn't even been a photoshoot in months!" An insider adds, "There was no recent photo shoot with the two of them on set. The last shoot was back in October for TV Guide and nothing like what's being described in that story happened." more ›

SI Band Invites Belmar Mayor to Rock

SI Band Invites Belmar Mayor to Rock

Not only are Staten Island and Belmar, NJ using their feud to fuel the publicity machine, but now bands are getting some ink over it as well! The Staten Island Advance reports that Joe Pecora, singer of the SI indie band Happy Anarchy, has invited the "guido-bashing Ken Pringle up from the Jersey Shore for a few drinks." Pecora wants the Belmar mayor to join in on a song or two with the band, as well -- though he's unsure if Pringle listens to rock or even plays an instrument. The written invitation he sent off to Pringle was wrapped in a t-shirt he made that reads: "I love Staten Island, So Go !@#$ Yourself!" more ›
