Above is another clip from our Movable Hype 8.0 show that took place this summer, of Femme Generation (we wish it included their crazy confetti explosion at the end of their shows). Our 9th is coming up TOMORROW, be there squares.

Thanks to everyone for coming out to our show last night. We had a great time and enjoyed bringing the focus back on New York bands, something we'll most likely continue to do in the future.
Movable Hype 8.0 is coming up tonight! We want you there. The first person to email us (at GothamistContest (at) gmail dot com) wins two list spots to tonight's show. Contest closed!
Femme Generation is a hard band to describe. Indie-pop-rock-synth dance music is what we would say upon listening to their song "Semper Fi Little Guy". It's more complex than even that however, with listens to their entire catalog. With harmonies, chants and noises we don't even recognize, the music never stays at the same tempo or pace. They can slow it down just as fast as they speed it up. One thing is for sure though, their live performance is an amazing one. We've heard reports from the front lines of past shows, and you better be ready to dance when they close out our Movable Hype show tomorrow night.
Movable Hype 8.0 is coming up next Tuesday July 11th! We're starting to book this as more of a New York bands showcase. We've brought down a Canadian band we love for this one though (if Philly is the 6th, can we make Canada the 7th borough?) Here are the details for next week:
Movable Hype 8.0 is just around the corner. We've been rethinking how to book these shows. All New York bands? All smaller bands, and more of them? Combination of both? Or keep it at 3 supporters and one headliner. While we think about it, here are the details we have so far for this next one:
Frog Eyes and Sunset Rubdown (despite having border problems) will be taking over Mercury Lounge two nights this week. Sunset Rubdown is Wolf Parade keyboardist Spencer Krug's side project, and he produced a beautiful album this year entitled, Shut Up I Am Dreaming. It got an 8.6 on Pitchfork, just a few points below last years Wolf Parade rating. Anyway, point is...it's good. If you go to the show tonight you can catch Beirut as an opener, see if his 2nd time out impresses the bloggers a bit more than his last show. Wednesday night you'll see Bedroom Walls opening.
