Did you have to battle crowds of people wearing #10 jerseys during your commute this morning? The Giants Super Bowl XLVI celebratory parade begins at 11 a.m., and crowds are already 10-15 people deep along the route. Our Tien Mao is at the scene and reports that a fan told a Department of Sanitation worker, "You're going to hate me, I have silly string." The DSNY worker replied, "I have overtime." more ›

James Franco Bought Three Portraits Of James Franco

James Franco Bought Three Portraits Of James Franco

What's more adorable than James Franco and a baby chimp? On Sunday the actor (or whatever) was at the Toronto International Film Festival when he spotted 13-year-old Macy Armstrong's homecrafted fan art, clutched tightly in her hands. Franco reportedly interrupted the proceedings to talk to his fan (who runs the Tumblr James Franco Forever), and ended up buying her pieces. more ›

In Spite Of Fan's Fatal Fall, Texas Rangers Aren't Changing Anything

In Spite Of Fan's Fatal Fall, Texas Rangers Aren't Changing Anything

A day after a fan fell to his death at Rangers Ballpark while trying to catch a ball thrown from outfielder Josh Hamilton, questions remain about safety at the Arlington, Texas stadium. This is the third incident of a fan falling there since 1994. When the stadium first opened, the NY Times reports, "While posing for a picture in a section of seats known as Home Run Porch, [Hollye Minter] toppled over the railing. She fell 35 feet, fracturing several vertebrae, ribs and teeth. The Ranger organization promptly raised the height of the railings in that section of the upper deck." more ›

Lohan Sticks By The Knicks In First Post-Rehab Appearance

Lohan Sticks By The Knicks In First Post-Rehab Appearance

Lindsay Lohan is sporting a nice post-rehab glow! She made her first public appearance since leaving Betty Ford, at the Knicks vs. Lakers game in LA on Saturday. She was there with her friend and jeweler Pascal Mouawad, who recently gave her a $25,000 diamond necklace. While at the game, she Tweeted: "Kobe sent me Lakers hats coz I'm wearing Knicks—I'm from NY!!! Gotta stay loyal!" But just last year Lindsay seemed to be rooting for the Lakers—which leads us to believe she may just be a fair-weather fan, jumping on the Knicks bandwagon now that they're not sucking as much. Next up: a double date with The Situation, Chloe Sevigny and Pauly D? more ›

Video: Fan Kicks Usher In Face At MSG

Video: Fan Kicks Usher In Face At MSG

Remember when you were swag-walking home from the Usher concert at MSG on Monday night, hoping someone caught the performer getting kicked in the face on video? Well someone did, and now we can all be a part of the awkward moment thanks to YouTube. The kick was accidentally delivered by a fan during some super weird role-play bit, where Usher brings a lady on stage and sings to her whilst she lays in his arms on a chaise lounge. It's all very romance novel meets ottoman humping. Anyway, she kicked him, but as EW points out, he took it in stride, telling the audience: “We play rough in the bed. We kick each other in the face and all kind of good stuff.” See for yourself around the 9:15 mark, it's almost as good as the classic short, Man Getting Hit By Football. more ›

Girls Camp Out For Justin Bieber's Today Show Gig

Girls Camp Out For Justin Bieber's Today Show Gig

This is our youth, ladies and gentlemen—the swarms of shrieking young girls and their parents who were at Rockefeller Plaza to hear teen-and-tween dream Justin Bieber perform during the Today Show. One 14-year-old girl from Pennsylvania convinced her grandmother that she and a friend should camp out over night with the time-old tactic of flattery. Bailey Hosterman told the Daily News, "I told her how awesome it would be and that she would be the best grandma ever." more ›

Marina Superfan Speaks Out

Marina Superfan Speaks Out

For those closely monitoring MoMA's Flickr account, which gets updated with portraits of each visitor that sits across from Marina Abramović, some familiar faces have popped up. But today we're not talking James Franco, we're talking Paco Blancas, a NYC-based make-up artist who has sat across from the legendary performance artist 14 times (and counting). One of the museum's interns tracked him down recently and grilled the (former) mystery man on his penchant for popping up in front of Marina. more ›

Another Phillies Fan Crashes Field As Taser Debate Rages

As sports fans and government officials argue about whether a Philadelphia police officer used excessive force in Tasering a teenage fan who ran out onto the field Monday night, yet another yahoo crashed the field last night. This man was not Tasered, although he probably deserved it more than the other guy, if only for those shorts. (And for being stupid enough to pull the stunt with drugs in his possession, according to police.) more ›

Justin Bieber Breaks Teen Girl's Heart on The View

Justin Bieber Breaks Teen Girl's Heart on The View

We tried our best to bury our heads in the sand on this Justin Bieber... thing, but this is just something we're going to have to come to terms with, like shingles and Uggs. The young recording artist, who has previously caused mass hysteria in shopping malls, is all over Manhattan this week; according to his Twitter (which we don't follow obsessively or anything) he's appearing on BET's show 106 and Park today and Letterman's show tonight. Yesterday Bieber was charming Barbara Walters on The View, but outside the studio one teen's whole entire life was RUINED when she couldn't get in to watch the taping. We know this because the girl's mother sent us an outraged e-mail, with the subject title, "ABC's the View leaves Justin Bieber's teenaged fans out in the cold!!!!" Hope you've got a box of tissues ready, because this one's a tearjerker: more ›

Video: Proud Jets Fan Removed from Chargers Game in Handcuffs

It's unclear what this exuberant Jets fan did to provoke his arrest during the third quarter of Sunday's Jets-Chargers game in San Diego, when his team was still behind. It could be there was some rowdy behavior that ended up on the cutting room floor, but all we see in this video is a swarm of security guards and cops taking him away in handcuffs—and it's telling that all the Chargers fans around him seem pretty outraged by the ejection. (High five to the guy chanting "Attica! Attica" at the 50 second mark.) more ›

Busta Pays "Fan" $75K

Busta Pays "Fan" $75K

Busta Rhymes has been busted for many things, and often gets of scott free. But not today! The NY Post reports that a Brooklyn judge ordered the rapper to pay $75,000 to a fan, Alex Duncan, that he assaulted at a 2003 concert. Allegedly Duncan wasn't a fan of the rapper at all, but was there to see Fabolous, who canceled. Allegedly when he stood up at the show and Rhymes took notice, Duncan told him he wasn't there to see him, and yadda yadda yadda Busta doused him with water, pelted with water bottles, and had his bodyguard punch him. more ›

Fan Sues Yankees For $5 million Over Inauthentic Stadium Seat

A Yankees fan from New Jersey is filing a $5 million class action suit over some seats from the old Yankee stadium he bought as a souvenir. John Lefkus spent the best 23 seasons of his life rooting for the Yankees from section M11, Row A, seats one and two, and after the Team moved to a new stadium, Lefkus decided to buy his old seats for $2,000. But what he actually purchased would shock him. more ›

Phish Fan Plants Yankee Stadium Grass At Fenway During Show

Phish Fan Plants Yankee Stadium Grass At Fenway During Show

Most Phish fans sneak a little grass into concerts in their underwear, but during the band's tour-opening show at Fenway Park on May 31st, Yankee fan Ian Ferris took it a step further: As payback for the Red Sox fan who tried to curse the Bronx Bombers by dropping a Sox jersey into wet concrete during construction of the new stadium, Ferris tried to seed the Fenway infield with grass seeds sold at Yankee Stadium. Once inside, Ferris, who manages a Hooters in Vermont, filled the bag of seeds with water and tossed it onto the infield. He tells the Post, "This is payback. If even one blade of grass sprouts on the field, I feel it was a success." It's important to have ambitions in life, but Gino Castignoli, the construction worker who buried the Red Sox jersey at Yankee Stadium, says Ferris's pitiful little gesture is futile: "My curse is working. It's typical of a Yankee fan to think you can buy a jinx in a bag. When will they learn, you don't win with your wallet but with your heart?" It's a safe bet that Castignoli also thinks Phish sucks, and Panic rules. more ›

Attention: Mr. Met Is Not a Giant Bobblehead

A baseball fan was arrested and charged with criminal trespass, disorderly conduct and harassment after making a regrettable scene at last Saturday's game against the Dodgers at Shea Stadium. 32-year-old Christian Hansen was reportedly inebriated and pushing children out of the way to get some face time with Mr. Met, the team's mascot whose costume head is an enormous smiling baseball. more ›

Knicks Fan Reaches the Breaking Point

Knicks Fan Reaches the Breaking Point

We talked to someone who was at the Knicks game in Boston Thursday night and he told us he saw something he'd never seen at a sporting event before––a fan ripping off his team's jersey and throwing it onto the court in disgust. The Boston crowd loved it. The gesture came as the Knicks were trailing the Celtics by 50 points in what would come as the team's second-worst scoring performance in the history of... more ›
