In the wake of a judge dismissing charges daredevil Jeb Corliss for his attempted jump off the Empire State Building, Mayor Bloomberg is very upset.

"If I understand the ruling, just from reading the headlines, the judge said the guy did nothing wrong and should be able to jump off buildings with a single bound or whatever - I don't know where the judge is coming from. Whether it's legal, that's up to the court system to decide. But we do not need people jumping off of tall buildings in New York City - certainly [not] without a permit."
Yeah, if you can't smoke in a restaurant, Mayor B sure as hell isn't going to let you jump off a building! The Daily News reports State Senator Marty Golden says he'll propose laws to ban "leaping from any bridge, building or antenna in this city," so all the i's are dotted and t's are crossed with the law.

Last night, just after 7pm, inside of a giant bubble in midtown, the Paper Nightlife Awards took place. In the world of fake awards ceremonies, this one takes the cake. Sadly, we didn't keep notes on who won what, so we cannot tell you who took home the "Best Designer with an Influence on the Nightlife Scene" award. We do recall La Esquina winning for "Restaurant with the Best Nightlife Scene." The white dude accepting the award snidely thanked "all the Mexicans" in his acceptance speech. Cultural exploitation is so fucking chic.

It's some Daily News gossip gold on this quiet Thanksgiving weekend: Fabian Basabe, who you may or may not know from such incidents as suing Bungalow 8, getting thrown out of a Hamptons club and calling the doorman "Negro," dirty-dancing with Barbara Bush and being seen about town (we needed to check the Jossip index on him to familiarize ourselves), was "arrested for drunken driving, driving without a license, and running a red light" on Wednesday night, according to the Daily News exclusive.

The holidays are fast approaching and if you're a book lover in the city, you're more likely to be at a store buying a book as a gift than attending a reading this week, but nonetheless, there are some stellar choices for auditory literary entertainment, we humbly digest them for you:
