As the tenth anniversary of the September 11 attacks approaches, we're encouraged to reflect upon how the country and indeed the entire world changed after the events of that horrific day. Oh, and buy stuff. Spending money is important otherwise the terrorists will win. Coins, wine, cartoons, whatever. But if you make only one jingoistic 9/11 purchase this year, log on to Etsy and make it the Superman On September 11th Stainless Steel Flask.

Video: A Wine Rack...For Your Bike
Bicycles are great and all but baskets looks a little silly and in this heat backpacks just mean more back sweat. So what to do when you want to go for a ride but don't want to leave your bottle of red behind? There's an Etsy shop for that.
Courtney Love's Etsy Profile Reveals Love Of Dolls, Knives
Someone has stumbled upon Courtney Love's Etsy profile, which presumably she uses to procure things with (as opposed to sell things with). It's nice to see she's consistent with her internet dealings, incorporating both her charming trademark typo-ridden text and a totally out-of-nowhere financial issues rant in her profile:
Urban Outfitters Responds To Charges Of Idea Theft
Mere hours after they invoked the wrath of one Miley Cyrus for "stealing" an Etsy designer's secret NY necklace sauce, Urban Outfitters has taken to their blog to respond to the "false allegations" by the designer, Stephanie Koerner. After claiming that they've been "supporting the Etsy community for years," the company states that "a quick search of Etsy for 'state necklace' reveals several other sellers with similar products (as seen here on Regretsy) who offered their wares as much as a year earlier than Ms. Koerner."
MTA Not A Fan Of MetroCard Artists
[UPDATED BELOW] East Village artist VH McKenzie has been adorning discarded MetroCards and selling them at her Etsy shop, but the MTA is not a fan of her work. According to EV Grieve, they sent her a letter (which you can read in full below), essentially asking her to cease sales of the paintings because they were created on top of the MTA’s intellectual property, which is protected by copyright and trademark law. They offered to discuss licensing deal with her, however, which would presumably make them some extra cash. So what does she have to say about all of this? On her Tumblr she declared:
Those Artisan Dildos You Bought On Etsy Are No Longer Secret
It looks like the specialty shopping website Etsy really stepped in the hand-crafted, organically-sourced dog doo. The popular site recently changed its privacy settings without adequately informing users they could opt out, and now their real names, reviews, favorites, and shopping histories are available to their Facebook friends. What this means is that if you're shopping for a gift for your Aunt Sylvia, and you use Etsy's new Facebook-linked "personalized suggestion" feature, you may find out a little too much information about Sylvia's kinky purchases. And some people are finding that if you search a name on Google, that person's Etsy profile comes right up!
Alabama Girl Dreams Of 1-Bedroom in Brooklyn
A girl in Montgomery, Alabama is currently saving up to move to Brooklyn, New York... and she could use a few bucks. Laura Zamora is an art-school grad and printmaker, and has decided to accelerate her stalled plans by setting up an Etsy page asking for donations so she can get out of dodge (specifically, her dad's place).
Crazy Paper Cut Map of New York
This map-cut of New York City is almost as insane as the skyline being drawn from memory right now. The four paper panels are each 3' x 4' and together show the city blocks, parks and other areas in 4 of the 5 boroughs (sorry Staten Island). It's one-of-a-kind, and the artist is selling it on Etsy for $550 (Paris is only $250).
