. Lately, seems as if every studio or theatre is looking for a quick fix, as “anyone whose name was a derivation of Herbert” received, as the Wall Street Journal notes, sneak-peak preview tickets to Lindsay Lohan’s disaster, whereas Fox offers a “buy-three-get-one-free deal” to boost Star Wars, Episode III.

By now we’ll assume most saw Episode III or are at least quite tired of seeing it butchered and plastered all over their Burger King fountain sodas. So I guess we can focus our attention back to more current matters, like deciphering Katie & Tom's publicity gymnastics (who else caught the jump, fall-to-one-knee, & arm wrestle move on Oprah?) and the new movies opening this weekend:

Continuing our Star Wars coverage, Gothamist wanted to know just how powerful are Star Wars’ die-hard fans? Enough to affect the economy. Worker absenteeism for last night and today's showings of Episode III: Revenge of the Sith is expected to cost NYC millions and U.S. employers $627-million, according to The Globe and Mail. If you're also interested in taking today or tomorrow off, Geek Squad has created customizable "fail-safe" excuse notes that will help even the most beleaguered employee get out of the office and into a theatre.

While logic tells us Episode III will be as painfully disappointing as the last two film chapters, many critics have applauded Lucas's latest effort, even comparing it to A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back. The movie premieres next Thursday, May 19th, at midnight and most NYC theatres are offering several 12:01 AM shows. If you’re interested in buying tickets online, most digital projection theatres, like Loews Kips Bay, have already sold out, but you can still catch a Loews stadium seating.
