'Tis the season for weddings and wedding court stories: Besides the terminal leukemia-faking bride from upstate, there's the story of Steven Silverstein, who says that his ex-fiancee broke their engagement TWICE and also left him with tens of thousands in bills. Of course, Silverstein is suing.

Fancy Restaurant Bouley Royally Screws Up Engagement, Says Yelper
Celeb chef David Bouley's flagship restaurant Bouley is undoubtedly one of the finer restaurants in the city. But if a recent Yelp posting sent in by a reader is to be believed, it might not be the ideal place to pop the question.
Alec Baldwin Lashes Out On Twitter After Daily News Shows Up To His Fiance's Yoga Class
Over the weekend Alec Baldwin, who turns 54 years old today, proposed to his girlfriend, 28-year-old yoga instructing Hilaria Thomas, while the two were away in Montauk. How do we all know this? Because Alec Baldwin is very famous! So naturally, this important life moment that would normally be kept amongst friends and family for the rest of us, was splashed about in the newspapers. It comes with the territory of being famous, and the two likely weren't going to keep it a secret anyway, as they've documented their love for each other in many public Tweets. But Baldwin went off on Twitter last night after one newspaper, The Daily News, sent photographers to his fiance's yoga class to get photos of the ring.

The holiday season is upon us, and with it brings all sorts of adorable things: festive sweaters, Yuletide logs, the occasional marriage proposal. Yes, indeed, tis the season for surprise proposals, like this one, at the touristy of all wintertime tourist destinations, Rockefeller Center's ice skating rink.
OMFG: Kim Kardashian Engaged To Nets Player!

Did You Get Engaged In Central Park This Weekend?
Did you, or someone you know, by any chance get proposed to in Central Park last Saturday, May 7th? Maybe at around 12:41 p.m. in front of the Bethesda Fountain? You did? Well, Michael Justin Films has some pictures you might want to see. Apparently inadvertently capturing proposals in time lapse videos is the hot new thing.
Macca To Marry MTA Board Member Girlfriend
We've seen this coming since 2009, but it's official: Paul McCartney and Nancy Shevell will marry. The couple—spotted at the Met earlier this week—have been together for four years, and just got engaged. The 51-year-old Shevell's term on the MTA Board will end in June, and we're guessing she won't return.
Springsteen Makes Cameo In Couple's Engagement Photo
Last year Will Ferrell popped up in a couple's engagement photo (the groom was a PA on his movie The Other Guys), and now The Boss is following his lead. Ed Dwyer and Jennifer Smith recently shot their announcement photo on the beach in Manasquan, telling APP they "kept putting them off" due to the crowds there all summer.
Levi's Mom Wants Invite To Palin-Johnston Wedding
While Sarah and Todd Palin gave a measured statement about daughter Bristol's engagement to Levi "Yeah, I Made Up Stories About You AND Posed For Playgirl" Johnston, Johnston's mother and sister were definitely not restrained when chatting with Inside Edition. His sister Mercede said, "I never thought this would happen. I don't think it's sincere. I think that there's something going on. Since he and Bristol got together, I haven't heard a word from him. When he told me that they were thinking about getting back together, I just started crying."
Bristol Palin, Levi Johnston: Engaged Again! [UPDATE]
[UPDATE BELOW with Palin family statement] Is this yet another sign that Sarah Palin really is running in 2012? The former Alaska governor and Republican vice presidential candidate's daughter says she and Levi Johnston are engaged again. Bristol Palin, who has an 18-month-old son, Tripp, with Johnston and whose out-of-wedlock pregnancy became a 2008 campaign talking point and tabloid obsession (and RNC prop), told US Weekly, "We got engaged two weeks ago. It felt right, even though we don’t have the approval of our parents."
Video: SI Woman Defends Keeping Ring After Break-Up
You may recall the story of the Staten Island woman who refuses to give back the $17,500 engagement ring after her relationship ended four months later. Colette DiPierro is being sued by 25-year-old Christopher Reinhold, who claims that DiPierro called off the wedding and kept the ring. But with a trial date looming, DiPierro has been defending herself in the court of public opinion, most recently with an appearance on the Wendy Williams Show:
Jilted Fiancée Sues to Get His Engagement Ring Back
25-year-old Christopher Reinhold asked Colette DiPierro to marry him back in May 2009, and she said yes, accepting his $17,500 diamond engagement ring. But in September she broke off the engagement... and kept the ring. Now Reinhold is suing her for the return of the ring or its monetary value, plus $5,000 for fees and legal expenses. (This case is not to be confused with a lawsuit filed earlier this year by a man who allegedly cheated on his fiancée, who broke off the engagement and kept the $19K ring.)
Betrayed Bride-to-Be Can't Keep Ring from Cheating Fiancé
A Nassau County judge has overturned an unwritten law of bad breakups: If a bride-to-be finds out her fiancé cheated on her and the marriage is called off, she is definitely keeping (and selling) that ring, ideally blowing the windfall on a rebound getaway weekend in Cancun with all her friends. Danielle Cavalieri, a former flack for fancy PR firm Dan Klores, was supposed to marry her Long Island high-school sweetheart, IT systems engineer John Gunther, last October. But after the whole thing went sideways, Cavalieri held on to the $19,000, 2.2-carat white gold engagement ring. So Gunther took her to court, to the abiding delight of the NY Post.
Bill Clinton On Future Son-In-Law
The Daily News caught up with former President Bill Clinton after a World AIDS Day symposium to ask him about daughter's engagement. Bubba said he was "very" excited about walking 29-year-old Chelsea down the aisle and said of her fiancee Marc Mezvinsky, "He's great. He's a great human being." (Apparently he had no comment on his future son-in-law's dad's various frauds related to the Nigerian black money scheme.) And for the very curious, the News adds that aides "cautioned that she might not be sporting her engagement ring immediately. The ring is in the shop getting properly sized."
Chelsea Clinton Engaged
Former First Daughter Chelsea Clinton announced her engagement to Marc Mezvinsky, a Goldman Sachs banker and classmate from Stanford, via e-mail: "We're sorry for the mass e-mail but we wanted to wish everyone a belated Happy Thanksgiving! We also wanted to share that we are engaged! We didn't get married this past summer despite the stories to the contrary, but we are looking toward next summer and hope you all will be there to celebrate with us. Happy Holidays! Chelsea & Marc" ABC News also notes Mezvinsky's "father, former Iowa congressman Edward Mezvinsky, was released from federal prison last April after serving a sentence for his role in a Nigerian fraud scheme." Clinton, 29, works at a hedge fund.
Hiram's Slashed Girlfriend: "We Love Each Other"
State Senator Hiram Monserrate's girlfriend spoke to the Daily News about her love for Monserrate: "I love him. We love each other and we want to be together again." See, Karla Giraldo hasn't been able to see Monserrate ever since a judge placed an order of protection preventing him from contacting her—since he slashed her last December with a broken glass—"I never asked for an order of protection. Now that the case is over, what is the reason for keeping us separated? I feel that the justice system has been unjust to me."
Hiram Wants To Put A Ring On Slashed Girlfriend's Finger
Sure, State Senator Hiram Monserrate wants to marry his girlfriend Karla Giraldo (at least according to his lawyer)—but there is a snag: That pesky order of protection that prevents Monserrate from contacting Giraldo, since he slashed her face with a broken glass last December! Monserrate and Giraldo both said it was an accident—and Monserrate was acquitted of two felony charges related to the incident but found guilty of a misdemeanor—but the judge still needs to remove the order.
Weiner to Tie the Knot
The 2009 campaign season may have left us with the distinct impression that Congressman Anthony Weiner is a bit of a tease, but apparently Weiner was just playing Gotham's Democratic voters while he was actually doing groundwork on the sole endorsement he was aiming for—from girlfriend Huma Abedin. Weiner and Abedin, the Hillary Clinton aide whom the News calls "glamorous" and "a linchpin of Clinton's entourage," just went public, but it turns out the proposal happened right around the time Weiner backed out of the mayoral race with an allusion to wanting to "start a family." The pair got outed in a NYT piece on former Clinton strategist and current Bloomberg campaign mastermind Howard Wolfson who dropped the "f" bomb (the other one) when referring to the two. The possible future Huma Weiner has apparently been courted by John Cusack and George Clooney in the past, which we believe beats his links to foreign models. She also happens to be Muslim, to which Gawker says "maybe he will be less of an asshole now." How sweet!
Craigslist Killer No Longer Championed by Fiancee, Family
Accused Craigslist killer Philip Markoff allegedly told family members to "forget about him" soon after his arrest last April for the murder of Julissa Brisman. And while they haven't quite abandoned him yet, his loved ones are not quite the cheerleaders they once were when he was first arrested. Yesterday a lawyer for Markoff's fiancee Megan McAllister, who initially was sticking with plans for their August wedding, revealed that she met with Markoff last month and told him that she is moving on, adding "it would be quite a long period of time, if ever, before she saw him again." The lawyer also refused to say if McAllister still believed Markoff was innocent, but that she found emerging details "disturbing" with now cops saying they found four women's panties stuffed in a sock and hidden between this mattress and spring box. A similar reticent tune came from Markoff's lawyer when asked if his family still believed that he was not guilty. He replied, "They're sticking by him."
Craigslist Killer Suspect Dumped By Fiancee
Megan McAllister, the NJ woman engaged to suspected Craigslist killer Philip Markoff, is moving on with her life. She was spotted visiting him at his jail yesterday—without her engagement ring—and her lawyer said the two had a "candid, frank" talk and that "it's time to move on with other things in her life." McAllister, who met Markoff while they were students at SUNY Albany, had previously made public statements standing by Markoff and continued to, sort of: Her lawyer said this morning, "I think she feels that she’s supportive of him. The man that she knew and loved for four years is not the man that’s being portrayed in the media." Like how her fiancee allegedly looked for gays and transgender people, too?
Engagement to Nowhere: Bristol Palin, Levi Johnston Break Up
Famous Alaskan teen parents Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston have confirmed their break-up to the Associated Press. The couple's relationship and pregnancy became an unavoidable talking point since Palin's mother, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, was the 2008 Republican VP candidate; the couple made a very public appearance at the Republican National Convention and their baby Tripp was born on Dec. 27. Today, Johnston said that they decided to mutually break up "a while ago" but his sister Mercede told Star there were bigger problems, "Levi tries to visit Tripp every single day, but Bristol makes it nearly impossible. She tells him he can't take the baby to our house because she doesn't want him around 'white trash'!" Bristol Palin, who just last month said they were getting married, is "devastated" about the Star article and said, "Unfortunately, my family has seen many people say and do many things to 'cash in' on the Palin name. Sometimes that greed clouds good judgment and the truth."
Times Weddings Highlights, Plus Love by the Book
Books, or at least book shelves, must be on this couple's wedding registry: The Post has a cute story about a couple whose engagement took place at the Strand Bookstore. Joshua Reich and Shianling King "always told friends they met at the Strand," but they actually met online - their first date was supposed to be at the Museum of Modern Art, but the lines were so long that they went to the Strand instead....
