The 23-year-old woman who helped run the prostitution ring that counted former governor Eliot Spitzer as a customer is pleading guilty to money laundering charges.

Ashley Dupré has become a "don't" in the world of scandalites for not parlaying her 15 minutes into some cold hard cash. NY Mag reports on her quick decline, saying that even market analysts "are now scolding the governor's hooker for not taking full financial advantage." Meanwhile, Silicon Alley reported yesterday that while there's still a possibility of a "low six-figure" offer from Georgi Vodka in the works, what's-her-name's story is going stale; seems her shelf life was about two weeks.

Client No. 9's escort "Kristen" has been unmasked by the NY Times. She's known as Ashley Alexandra Dupre (born Ashley Youmans), a 22-year-old aspiring singer who was raised in NJ, lived in a number of cities before settling in NYC.

Multiple sources say that Governor Eliot Spitzer is resigning and has begun notifying top state officials of his decision and is now scheduled to speak at 11:30 a.m.. Of course, he was expected to step down , but it seems that after "an agonizing night," his resignation is all but confirmed. (The Times has a Q&A conducted with Paterson in January; like Spitzer he's a big Hillary Clinton booster.)

The alleged tryst that Governor Spitzer had with a $4,300 hooker took place on the evening of February 13 in Washington, D.C. But before the meeting, Spitzer had appearances in Rochester, Buffalo and Batavia, at the Batavia VA Medical Center.

The complaint filings the U.S. Attorney's Office made in the Emperors Club VIP prostitution ring show details about Client 9, which allegedly is Governor Eliot Spitzer. Here are some of the highlights:
  • Client 9 paid $4,300 for the services of "Kristen," described as "An American, petite, very pretty brunette, 5-feet-5 inches and 105 pounds.”
  • Client 9 was "paying for everything -- train tickets, cab fare from the hotel and back, mini bar or room service, travel time and hotel."
  • Emperors Club management was unhappy that Client 9's payment hadn't arrived by mail as promised and "asked [him] to give Kristen an extra $1,500 or $2,000 to avoid future payment problems." (Client 9, apparently a regular customer, had some money left over in his account.)

Governor Spitzer made a statement this afternoon referring to his apparent link to a prostitution ring." He had canceled his events and made this brief and cryptic statement:

Over the past nine years, eight as attorney general and one as governor, I have tried to uphold a vision of progressive politics that would rebuild New york and create opportunity for all.

A man and three women were arrested by the feds for overseeing an intercontinental prostitution ring catering to the upper crust of New York, Miami, LA, and Europe.
