An intense traveling art exhibit that aims to enlighten people about the horrors of sex trafficking has arrived in New York. Called "Journey," the installation consists of seven shipping containers with work by international artists intended to evoke the experience of being a sex trafficking victim. It opened yesterday on Washington Place, and will remain open through Sunday. This video shows the interior of one of the containers, in which Coco de Mer founder Sam Roddick recreates a room in a brothel:

This week at the movies, two actors known for their intensity on (and off) screen have new flicks coming out. The Oscar-winning over-reactor Russell Crowe goes the romantic comedy route with about an English businessman softened by life in Provence. With a script by Peter Mayle, a novelist well versed in the French countryside, and direction by Ridley Scott, Crowe as Max Skinner actually comes across as incredibly charming. He's sure to send many loins a fluttering as he woos French hottie, Marion Cotillard on his newly inherited chateau and vineyard. Albert Finney, as his beloved uncle, and Freddie Highmore, as the young Max, also have some very cute exchanges together. All of these elements make for a light but well-made movie, that surprisingly entertaining.

In the television category, kudos to our favorite cops and lawyers for getting an ensemble acting nomination. Also, Mariska Hargitay of Law & Order SVU was nominated for lead actress in a drama. And while snubbed for a Golden Globe, our friend Justin Kirk was nominated for best actor in a TV movie for his amazing work in Angels America; Al Pacino, Jeffrey Wright, Meryl Streep, Mary-Louise Parker, and Emma Thompson were also nominated for their roles in Angels. To bring it full circle, Ben Shenkman, who also starred in Angels, played the defendant's lawyer on Law & Order last night.

Variety's Todd McCarthy: "Fully capturing the grandeur, extravagance, urgency, poetry and humor of the produced play, the savvy veteran director [Nichols]has brought out an elemental dimension of emotional melodrama that makes the piece compulsive screen fare without subtracting one bit from its status as great theater."
