Watch where you throw your umbrellas away, especially if you're in Williamsburg late at night. Early Sunday morning, a 30-year-old man was stabbed in the back with his recently discarded umbrella while walking on Metropolitan Avenue near Berry.

Early Sunday morning, an 86-year-old man was found driving in the opposite direction as traffic on the Belt Parkway. Luckily no one was hurt, but the highway patrol had to divert traffic in order to stop Bernard Hummel.

Early Sunday morning, 20 cars were involved in a pile up on the Gowanus Expressway near 40th Street. While the damage to the cars was minor and no one was seriously injured, the suspicion was that a hose that had been left on by construction workers caused icy road conditions during the unseasonably cold night. Water is used to help set concrete.

Early Sunday morning, an off-duty police officer tried to intervene in an altercation in Jackson Heights, Queens. Apparently, the off-duty lieutenant, Jose Jacome, a 16 year NYPD veteran who had picked up his girlfriend from her shift working at a bar, saw a man being beaten by two other men.

Early Sunday morning, a couple policemen were injured while responding to a landlord-tenant dispute at a Bronx apartment building. And, no, the injuries weren't caused by the landlord or tenant - they were NYPD-inflicted. To top things off, they killed a pit bull as well. A sergeant, a lieutenant and three rookies were pursuing a pot-smoking teen, Lenin Acevedo, who kicked in the door of another apartment. That's when pit bull named either "Cookie" or "Red" came bounding out, biting one of the officers. So two other officers tried shooting the dog, and somehow 26 bullets were unloaded into the hallway and the dog. The family who owned the dog said that there were seven children in the apartment during shoot-out and added that the police didn't even apologize for killing the dog. Man. The police are classifying this as a friendly fire incident that's within department regulations and will reenact the incident, but, really, 26 bullets for one pit bull?

- Friday night in Jamaica, Rowland Erby killed Wayne Fung with a bayonet because he thought Fung was flirting with his girlfriend. A bayonet? Serious? What's next? Shooting by musket? Terror by cannon? Bombing by balloon? At least Erby kept it in the right place, the attic. Erby was arrested at the scene and charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon.
